Good morning all. I had an appointment with my eye surgeon on
Wednesday to have the interior of my eyes measured to find out what
thickness my new lenses had to be. He had already measured the
diameter of each lens. They numb the eye, then use a small pen-like
thing to do ultrasound mapping of the inside of your eye. The
assistant had no trouble with the right eye, but the red light kept
disappearing when she tried to do the left eye. The cataract was so
thick that the ultrasound couldn't get through. She had to do it at
an angle instead of directly through the center. She finally did
succeed though.
The Doctor explained all about the surgery,
and it's aftermath. It only takes a little over half an hour
usually. Then you have to go to recovery for twenty minutes or so,
just until they're sure that you're stable. Unfortunately you have
to get there an hour ahead of time. You have lots of paperwork to
fill out, you have to be hooked up to an IV, etc.
It is going
to be SO good to be able to see again. At the moment I am wearing my
distance lenses and still have to sit within 10 inches of the screen
to see anything. Even then, it's blurry and slightly distorted. Take
