Anyone catch Rockford Files: Blessing in Disguise?
It was on over the weekend and I had not seen it previously and was a fan of the ROckford files from way back and the fact they brought back Angel, one of the older guest stars was really cool! ROC rocked in this one! Anyone else wanna chat over this tv movie?

Have a good one & chat with you later! PEACE!!!

Hi Pamster,

I didn't see it on TV, but I did watch it this past weekend on video tape.

I actually had the video tape for a few months, but since my Mom was dying from cancer, I just wasn't in the mood to watch it or any of the other Lucy and Renee tapes I had bought.

This past weekend I watched "Blessing In Disguise" with Renee and "Hightide - Shanghied" with Lucy.

I was so glad to see Renee got a good sized role in this one. Some of her other early appearances seemed far too short.

She also reminded me of the season 1 Gabrielle in her actions. For instance, she waved her hands when she spoke just like the young Gabrielle.

I didn't watch "The Rockford Files" when it was on TV though I probably did see an episode or two. This episode was very good and all the better because Renee was in it.

Renee was very good.

Take care,

XenaHerc

Oh XenaHerc! You have my deepest sympathies about your mother's illness. I lost my father in 81' to cancer and he fought it for years...There is NO pain that can compare to watching someone you love suffering like cancer makes a person suffer. I can only hope her docotr is giving her enough pain medication that she is NOT hurting too terribly. You and your mother are both in my prayers...You said was-has she passed? I was 12 when I lost my father and it was so awful for him-he was all alone-if your mother is gone I can only say that at least she had you there with her...SO sorry to hear of your sadness...

As for Renee I felt the same thing about her performance, it was looking at the season one iritating blond we all fell in love with. It was great to see her so ACTIVE in the show too. It was awesome to finally see it! I hope you take care and feel better soon...

 Re: re: Blessing in Disguise
Laura Sue Dean was, to me, a proto 1st season Gabrielle. Very youthful, chatty, naive, wide eyed and innocent. Yet Laura had a depth that she seldom showed; so did Gabrielle.
My favorite scenes were her crying and talking soulfully with Rockford (is that his last name?), and the last scene where she had her hair unpuffed and in a pony tail while packing. I hate 'high hair'. She was prettier in that scene than any of the others. IMO, of course. ;)
She played the self absorbed, motor mouthing Laura Sue Dean to perfection, and I can see why the TPTB cast her as Gabrielle. Whoever saw her talent and hired her deserves a raise. LOL!

 re: Mom's passing
Hi Pamster.

Thank you.

She did pass away on Jan. 5 after being at home for 9 days.

She was in the hospital for a week and a half before that.

The day after Christmas they told us they were sending her home to die because there was nothing else they could do.

She had a rare breast cancer that doesn't cause lumps.

In fact, she had a mammogram 6 months before any symptoms appeared and it was clear.

In July of 1999, she felt pain in her lower back.

After taking various treatments for the pain, the doctor had an MRI done and it showed lesions on her spine. Another mammogram was done and it was also clear.

She had both radiation and chemo with chemo given monthly.

Around Thanksgiving, she had trouble getting out of bed without 2 people holding her up and basically was bedridden after that.

She had continued to work until Halloween and then had to quit because the pain was too much.

She had another mammogram 3 months ago and it was still clear.

The Doctor said it was around Thanksgiving when the cancer moved from the spine to the brain.

Watching someone you love suffer like that is a very stressful thing for the whole family.

My Mom had 3 kids and in-laws as well as my Father and her best friend around her every day.

But it took 3 people to change her diapers because she couldn't move anything but her head during those 9 days at home. Every movement caused pain even with the morphine she was on. She could open her eyes and groan but not speak.

2-1/2 years ago, my 38 year old sister died of pancreatic cancer. It took 6 days of watching her suffer after 9 months of battling the cancer.

I never thought I would have to go through that twice, let alone in such a short period of time.

Well thanks for letting me share. Sometimes it helps to talk about these things.

Take care,

XenaHerc

{{{{{{{{{{{{{XENAHERC}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Yes it can help to get it out and I am so sorry that there wasn't more they could do to help her...How awful its been for you!!!! The only comfort is knowing she is not in pain any longer and even that is not much is it?

Take care of yourself and try to remember the good times you had with both of them...The worst part of cancer is how it leaves you with the worst memories as the freshest and most painful so that the good ones are all the harder to enjoy...

You have really seen some horrilbe things and had to be strong for them, now be strong for YOU! :)

If you need to talk, you can email me anytime Pamster1@hotmail.com

Good to see you around again, but I wish your spirits were in better shape...Thank you FOR sharing your pain and I hope it helpd a little to get it out...

 Re: re: Mom's @#%$
XENAHERC, Sorry to hear about your loss. Sounds like the breast cancer that I just read about. It's where you can't see anything and you feel fine but after a while it shows up. I hate to say it but after a while, you die because it's too late. I am sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in 98 and I still hurt every know and again.
