Re: Lucy
sexuality
Okay that's good enough for me to put to rest the picture I had of
that rumor wherein Rob was there at the interview
somehow.
However the rumor was that Rob had the publicist guy
go in and get her off.
So could Rob have been listening and
made a call? Assuming he was indeed in LA, no reason to doubt it
then, was Howard Stern's show going out live so Rob could've been
listening live?
One reason I find it unappealing to let this
rumor die is 'cuz the questions were such that I felt leaving the
show early was easily justified, and so if it wasn't happenstance -
could've been I suppose - I would wonder as to who made the
decision. Maybe justice made the decision and it was carried out by
providence. Yeah, that’s the ticket!
Another reason is I
recall being curious as to why Howard Stern and The Donald would be
talking Lucy Lawless down when Stern had The Donald on shortly
thereafter. Howard Stern very clearly lusted after Lucy Lawless, and
was perhaps rejected Rejected REJECTED bwah hahahahahahahaha! And so
I think they both were just bitter about being left on the curb!
*snicker* But I'd loved to have worked in "Lawless leaving his show
on purpose 'cuz he got so nasty with her" into the equation.
And if Rob had made the call it'd just been that much more legend is
all. Oh well...but still a maybe?

Sarpedon1,
I'm just a little confused here as to whose side
your on. Are you trying to make Lucy and Rob look bad or just what
is your purpose in these posts?

Re: Lucy
sexuality
Well Tobias7, supposing the rumor was true and Rob Tapert was
offended by Stern's question at some point, and asked that she move
on to some pressing biz (said pressing biz could've been perfectly
true) instead of going out of her way to remain there longer, how
would that make Lucy and Rob look bad? Not meaning to say it
wouldn't, or would, just asking.
Or where you referring to
the "if I was to make up a rumor" stuff I just wrote and then
removed 'cuz I thought better of making up a rumor even though I was
saying it weren't true.
If you're just asking what's my
point, if I have one, I suppose it'd be that there are so many
interviews, with questions being asked by people who are asking the
questions to titilate the audience despite whatever the answers are,
and the star is also trying to be entertaining even though the
questions might be rude or stoopid, and at the end of it all you can
go back and pick through the questions and answers and happenstance
happenings and dream up all sorts of stuff that's pieced together
that's just way more interesting than the truth, and given a choice
most people are gonna want to believe the interesting "rumors" 'cuz
the truth is just - well - boring.

Re: Lucy

Yes, it was the made up rumor part I was more referring to and I'm
glad you deleted it, although I'm still not sure what you're looking
for in the rest.
As I recall I read an article about this
interview and someone did come in and tell either Lucy and/or Howard
that she had to leave to get going to the theatre because I think
she did this during her run on Grease. I don't recall who came in
but I definitely don't remember Rob having anything to do with it.
And even if it had been Rob who prompted someone to ask her to leave
I'd say good on ya cause I know I was offended by some of the
questions Sterns started to ask and would have wanted her out of
there.

"I know I was offended by some of the questions Sterns started to

Me too, as were
most (all I think) of the people posting about it on the Nutforum at
the time. I gathered that most would have preferred she'd never been
there at all 'cuz they didn't care for Howard Stern
anyways.
I think it was said, and here I guess this is just
another rumor, that she did his show mainly for publicity for
Grease! - being the professional that she is and all.
You're
probably right that Rob Tapert had nothing to do with her leaving,
especially since he was like 3000 miles away at the time, and the
truth is just as it seems that she had to get on to the
theatre.

I liked the fact that Lucy was brave enough to do the Stern show
and I think she handled herself like the pro she is.

As I recall(and I have the tape), Lucy had stayed LONGER then she
was supposed to.That's why her agent came in to tell her that she
had to leave. She was late for another engagement. She was supposed
to be there for 1 hr. She was there for 1 1/2 hrs.

Re: Lucy
sexuality
Lawless, I was just about to say that. Lucy was on longer than she
was supposed to be. Most people aren't used to Howard's show where
he goes through an interview, no matter how long, without taking a
commercial break. Lucy might have been waiting for a comm break and
didn't realise how long she had been on air. At any rate, her
publicist came in and said it was time to go because she had some
other gig waiting. [I wanna say Access Hollywood(?)]
Anyway,
Lucy didn't seem upset with the sex questions, just irritated by
Howard asking about her divorce from her first husband, volunteering
to be her manager and hitting on her most of the interview. It's
standard Howard Stern but I don't think Lucy expected him to be so
annoying.
Anyway, RT couldn't possibly have heard the
interview live. LA is broadcast on a delayed basis, otherwise
Howard's show would start at 3.00am LA time cuz it starts at 6.00am
NY time.
Edited to add: I think Lucy more than held her own.
Howard got flustered for all the wrong reasons

Re: Lucy

Yes, lucyfer. Near the end of interview, Lucy did seem to find
Howard a annoying and he knew it. He asked her if she was mad at him
and she said no.I think Lucy did realize that they kept her there
longer than was scheduled.Maybe that's why she was ticked.Or it
could have been because he was 3rd degreeing her about her divorce
to Garth Lawless. But clearly, she was very ticked with him about
something.

Re: Lucy

Well, I know it's Howard Stern and all, but I find it repulsive
that he continued to try to goad her into somehow 'implying' she
might like women. She made it very clear that she loves her husband,
and HS should have left it at that.

Howard asks every woman those same questions. Like it or not,
that's his style. He asked, Lucy said no and yes or whatever, and he
left it at that. And what difference does it make anyway, she wasn't
upset by the question.

So now The Truth has reared its head and layed the poor "Rob got
her out of there" rumor to rest, the truth being something like with
no ones help her agent just went in and did his job and told
whomever that she'd already stayed 30 minutes overtime and simply
had to be moving on to the next gig.
Yes I thought she
handled the interview very well, despite HS having conducted it from
the depths of his Xena Haze.

Re: Lucy

Sorry, I think it's deplorable for anyone to 'question' someone
else's sexuality, which is what Howard is doing. Again, that may be
Howard's style. Doesn't mean I have to like it (which is why I don't
listen to him.)
Consequently, I think Lucy handled herself
very well. Has she been on the show since???

Re: Lucy

RoxyWP:When LL went on the show, she must have expected questions
about her sexuality because of the' Xena/Gabrielle are lovers'
thing. With just about every interview Lucy does, she's asked about
that."Does Xena like girls?"Well, she must have known HS would take
it further and ask "Does Lucy Lawless like girls?" She knew of HS's
reputation? The way he asks very personal questions and the rude
comments, so why did she do the show? She didn't have to.Obviously
she didn't mind answering all the personal stuff or she wouldn't
have done it.

Re: Lucy

Lawless-
I'm not questioning LL's decision to do the show. I
am simply stating that I am not a fan of anyone, public figure or
private citizen, having their sexuality challenged- especially by
someone like HS. Oh, I'm sure HS is a nice guy and all, and I do
suspect he does what he does for ratings, but... well, let's just
say I don't listen to his show.
Pretty amazing since I don't
really consider myself a prude.

Re: Lucy

Roxy, I think you're getting upset over something that was very
inconsequential/minor in the interview with Lucy. He asked her if
she'd ever been with a girl, she said no, but the yes to the oysters
bit and then they moved on. It wasn't like he was harping on that
part for most of the interview. I think he spent more time on the
anal sex question because Lucy kept dodging the answer until she
finally said no. Whatever. In any case, the questions were very
rapid fire and Howard sometimes didn't even give Lucy a chance to
answer. Point being, he didn't stay on any one subject for very
long. I don't get why the sexuality question is such an issue
anyway. It didn't seem to bother Lucy anywhere near as much as it
seems to be bothering you on her behalf.

Re: Lucy
sexuality
Lucifer-
If you think I'm upset, well, you should see me when I'm REALLY
upset.
Again, I saw Lucy as being uncomfortable and a bit
peeved with the questions. But even if Lucy was jolly-happy about
all of it, it still would not have lessened my feelings about the
line of questioning. It could have been LL, Susan Sarandon, Melissa
Ethridge or even Laura Bush- I still would not have liked the
questions. But that is Howard. To my knowledge, Lucy has not been
back on his show.
It isn't a matter of being bothered or
upset. It's a matter of personal taste. As such, as I have said
before, I do not listen to Howard Stern- although I did hear his
9-11 show and thought he was fabulous.
To each her own, I
guess...

ow to bad that rumor about RT getting her of wasn't true, I liked
the idea of him rescueing the damsell in distress, it so...
romatic.... but like homer says (sarcasticly): sure, you can prove
anything with the truth. I like a good rumor and the never
ending argueing and b!tching over circumstancial evidence that come
with it.
and i agree with HAILXENA that she should have slapt
is sorry @ss but purely because that would have provided us with a
wonderful reason for endless speculations. And ofcourse most
importantly, slapping: FUN!
