SPOILERS-Which episode has the most subtext in
it?
Hey all you groovy xenites! Im new on here and am so glad I've
found a place where I can talk about subtext with fellow xenites
As I am from London, I haven't see all of season 4
but I have seen season 5!
(long story) Anyway I think there are so many great eps that have
a lot of subby in them but I would have to go with: One Against
an Army as their looks, touches and dialogue through out the ep was
fab. Oh and the great A day in the life which is of course a
classic, in the way in which they were playful with each other and
teased each other and the cute scene at the end!
(Edited title to include
spoiler notice.) Red

Which episode has the most subtext in it?
i have to agree, OAAA and ADITL are very subtext heavy. two of my
favorite episdoes too.
there's some nice moments in paradise found as well.
i
have to say, i'm glad to see this subtext forum pick up now that all
the SUSA people have moved in. it was really dying for awhile there.

Re: Which episode has the most subtext in

I'll agree that OAAA was probably the episode with the most
subtext. It was truly wonderful. The scene between Xena and
Gabrielle at the end of "Ides of March" still takes my breath away.
I wish TPTB had allowed a kiss in that scene - it would've been
entirely right.
The fifth season was a little disjointed - I
think the whole production was thrown off track with Lucy's
pregnancy. I actually don't remember much detail about the fifth
season except that we spent a whole lot of time getting that baby
born and then losing 25 years in the blink of an eye.
Some of
the sixth season episodes have been very nice - the Norse trilogy
was especially touching. (You'll love it when you get the chance to
see it.) "You Are There" absolutely put the "are they or aren't
they" question right in prime time. Too bad the battery ran out of
juice. *G*

Re: Which episode has the most subtext in

I Heard today while watching the View that next weeks Friends
episode has a Lesbian kiss between Jennifer Annistons character and
someone.Meredith Vierra mentioned shows with lesbian undertones and
mentioned Xena. This kiss on friends will be in primetime(not that
its a first for TV)but Xena was never allowed to be risque without
being censored and all.I,ll never understand TPTB on all that.

Ummm, how about "Paradise Found"? I seem to remember a certain bard
getting a full body rubdown from a certain Warrior Princess.

Re: SPOILERS-Which episode has the most subtext in

I haven't seen very many Xena eps, but there was one in a cave (The
Abyss?) in which Xena is holding Gab in her arms. Gab is sick/hurt
and Xena holds her, kissing her hair, being so loving and tender ..
It is really a beautiful moment. I was hooked on the show after
watching THAT ep.
The Sappho one was pretty sweet, too.
Although i couldn't tell by X's reaction to the poem whether she was
surprised by the romance in it. She reacted strangely when Gab read
it out loud.

Re: SPOILERS-Which episode has the most subtext in
it?
Yeah, Jen. There was a lot of discussion about that particular
scene right after it happened. As a closet romantic, I can come up
with all sorts of sweet things to do and say, but then I feel
awkward and embarrassed when I actually pull them off. That's how I
took Xena's reaction. I think she wanted to be sweet and romantic,
but then felt like a goon when she got in the moment. That or she
just did it because Gabby loves that romantic stuff, but wasn't
really comfortable with it herself. Kinda like going shopping with
my roommate during a Cowboys' game. I'm not too happy doing it, but
if it make her happy I can suck it up...

Goe - *laughinggg ... yah .. i know what you mean. A lot of my
grand ideas about romance make me all goofy and strango when they
actually materialize. Good point.

Whaddya mean she grabbed a handful of breastplate in AS? How the
h*ll did I miss that? And I don't have it on tape either.
D*mmit!
I'd say we've reached a pretty good concensus here.
Great job to all!!!!!

Re: SPOILERS-Which episode has the most subtext in

Oh yeah. When Gabby was all stoned on henbane laced nutbread... as
Xena was helping her up, she grabbed a handful of breastplate. At
least, I THINK that's the episode it was in.
Look out
everyone... she's thinking again.
