Did you know that standard VHS video tapes lose quality even if you don't play them? Most will start losing video clarity after only 10 years. This is because video tape is actually made up of tiny magnetic particles glued to a plastic tape. The glue starts to degrade, and some of these particles start falling off of the plastic tape. It’s why your tapes look “fuzzy,” and/or start to skip (even though you keep trying to adjust the tracking).** DVDs on the other hand, can last 100 years without losing quality if properly stored and handled. And the government agrees. See their recommendations at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Most clients end up watching their DVDs more often because the memories are more easily accessible. You can pop in a DVD, find "Little Man Joey's 3rd Birthday" and play it instantly. It’s much better than the alternative of fast-forwarding through a poorly-labeled tape (or a tape with no label at all), hoping that the event is actually on that tape. ![]() Video transfer is as low as $25 per video hour*. In layman’s terms, that means you only pay for how much video footage is actually on your tape—not the entire tape with blank, unused portions and all. Please keep in mind that this price is for straight transfers only. If you’d like any editing done, no problem…but there is an extra fee. All you need to do is send an email, and let me know what you would like to do with your home videos. Now, here are the unique reasons why you’ll get more using TYGR Productions for your video transfer:
