...Wildseed...
“In the beginning, God created Heaven and the Earth”…He also created the Angels and unto them gave the task of tending Heaven. Upon the new world, God cast a likeness of himself and called it man.
And so the tale goes...but somewhere in the mix, there arose a people who were once called the WildSeed.
Wildseed:
Neither human nor undead, but often having tendencies of both. Neither Angel nor Devil, but showing signs of one or the other, through the eras they were hunted down, persecuted and killed. Beleived to be witches in the Dark Ages, Gods of Ancient Lor, or great Shamans of the wilderness, now they are simply human, with SEEDs of power hidden within them. They live among humanity, not even knowing that they are different. Their don't even know their true purpose in life or that the power within them slumbers, waiting for the day to dawn once more for them to blossom.
General Powers
All Wildseed have basic send/receive telepathy
Many have an alternate form that is accessible if the Seed is fully Awakened
Some can call upon the memories of their Ancestors
Slightly faster healing capabilites (Fully Awakened only)
Resiliences to most diseases and ailments(Fully Awakened only)
Reproduction
Most Wildseed can reproduce like humans and have no problems with offspring. Those rare exceptions are those with special genetic mutations that make the normal physiology of passing genes to their offspring difficult or impossible.
Of WS offspring - not all will be have the Seed. Some will only be carriers and breed it into their offspring. Others may well have many children who exhibit the gene. It depends solely on if both parents have the gene and how Awakened it is!
Wildseed - Human Relations
Wildseed seem like regular humans to the naked eye. And in truth, they almost are....except for one incredible difference. Within many, there is a seed, laying dormant within them. As carriers, they often know nothing of the ancestrial lines that trace back to this race. Often, if the Seed is finally Awakened within an individual it has been mistaken as a mutation. But if the Seed blooming within were given the time to fully blossom, the bearer's life will be forever changed and it will become apparent that they never truly were human, or shared a common human ancestry as most of the other great Races did, but that they were something else altogether.
Awakening:
Wildseed are often thought to be mutated humans, but they are not at all. The time when their Seed blossoms - their Awakening is sometimes triggered by trauma, but it is suspected that all who carry a strong seed will eventually Awaken anyhow.
Transition
The process of the Seed being Awakened. During this often painful transition they are left completely helpless as they are often rendered unconscious as their internal organs and brain waves undergo a major shift. They are also extremely vulnerable to mental bombardment and hallucinations. If not in the company of friends and familiar surroundings, they are often killed before Awakening from Transition. On some occasions the Transitioning Wildseed has even killed their tenders. It is a very dangerous time for all around the Awakening WS.
Enemies
Unfortunately for most Wildseed, there is an unknown enemy that hunts them down, always striking swiftly in the night and culling the bud before it blossoms. They are a secret organization called the Seraphs and they have been hunting the Wildseed for time unmeasured.
BioTech - (aka Bramadoro Biological and Technical Corporate Institute) is also after WS. The scientists are fascinated by the healing capablilities and genetic complexity of those who are WS and seek to study the phenomena in order to utilize it for future technology and cures for various human diseases.
