LIVING OUR STORIES WITH JESUS
“A name is a seed. When it germinates it becomes a story.” One way to understand our own lives is to see them as story, full of the holy stuff of life. Telling a story is the primary verbal way we have of interpreting life the way we actually live it day-by-day. And there is a name that when we hear it we also know the story. Jesus is not only a person, not only the Christ, but also a story filled with the holy stuff of life.
This week will be spent exploring how we go about living our lives as followers of Jesus. How do our stories intertwine with the Jesus story? How can the story of who Jesus is and who he calls us to be, help shape our own life stories? How do we understand, in our own lives, what it means to live differently in this world because we yearn to be disciples of Jesus? Using the stories of our lives and of scripture; poetry, music and prayer, we will explore our relationship with the one we call Jesus.

“Raised as the daughter of a minister, I became a minister when I grew up. In my life I have been a teacher; spent time parenting; worked with women who experienced domestic violence. I attended seminary at Seattle University and Eden. For 15 years I was one of the pastors at University Congregational UCC. After retirement I served First Cong. Bellevue, UCC, and have done two stints as an interim, acting UCC Conference Minister. Trying again to retire, I have a great passion for time spent with my husband Ed, our grown children and three incredible grandsons. University Congregational, United Church of Christ, has been held close in my heart for over 30 years.”
