Exploring Our Faith Stories
The stories of our faith, both biblical and personal, help shape us. Our own experiences and telling our own stories shape our faith and the way we tell biblical stories. Finding ways to articulate and share our faith stories can help us deepen our own faith and can invite others to share theirs as well. We will spend time learning about exploring and telling our stories, as well as practicing telling our stories through interviewing one another, written word, collage, song, video, journaling, dance or whatever form your story takes!
Discussions and workshops will be led by…
Facilitators:
Rev. Catherine Foote
Catherine has a passion for ministry, a love of teaching and a delight in telling Bible stories. As a trained counselor she is particularly interested in the ways narratives help us make meaning and then act out that meaning in our behaviors.
Mr. David Anderson
David’s expertise and experience at both our denominational, conference and national settings (chairing several key committees and serving on the national Executive Council for 6 years) has gained key insights into how the telling of our faith stories is integral to living a life of faith, the future of progressive Christianity and UCUCC in particular.
Rev. Peter Ilgenfritz
Peter, your pastor for over 17 years now, will help us explore how listening to our lives through the practices of meditation, Sabbath, and movement can affect our story. His expertise in witnessing and listening to the changing faith stories of this congregation at all stages and ages of life will guide us in this week.
Rev. Amy Roon
Amy will focus on empowering and enabling us to tell our stories through a variety of media. Most significantly she will help us make a record of our stories, a digital collage through recorded spoken word, photographs and video.
