All camps are coed, unless noted on schedule. 
Not all camp types are offered each session.

Camp Times

  • Mornings Only: Instruction in camp activities 9:30a-12:30p. Free extended supervision available from 8:15a-1:45p. Free extended supervision available from 8:15a-1:45p.  Half-day campers may pay $15 per day to remain for all-day camp.
  • All-Day: Instruction in camp activities 9:30a-4:15p. Free extended supervision available 8:15a-5:30p.

Daily Schedule

  • 8:15a-9:30a: Extended Drop-off. Campers are supervised as they do independent activities or relax.
  • 9:30a-12:30p: Camp activities with 15-minute snack break. See camps info for listing of activities. 12:30p-1:45p: Lunch-time activities will include: lunch break, sports & games, and gymnastics workout.
  • 1:45p-3:45p: Afternoon activities may include: dance (hip-hop, ballet, tap, jazz, and possibly break), cheerleading, colorguard, drama, rhythmic gymnastics, greco-roman wrestling, and gymnastics workouts.
  • 3:45p-4:15p: Open workout.
  • 4:15p-5:30p: Extended Pick-up: Campers are supervised as they do independent activities or relax.

FREE Extended Supervision

No instruction is provided during Extended Supervision. Campers may play card and board games, watch a G- or age-appropriate PG-rated movie, relax, or bring their own activity. If additional time is required, you may contact UMDGC for a list of staff available to babysit off-site; arrangements must be made directly with the babysitter.

Payment Options

  1. Pay in full at time of registration.
  2. 30% of each week’s fee is due at time of registration to reserve your space. Credit card info must be provided so that the balance can automatically be charged 7 days prior to the start of each camp week. You may pay the balance by another method, but payment must be received 8 days prior to that camp’s start or the card will be charged.

Snack and Lunch

Bring a healthy snack and drink every day; any camper staying after 12:30p must also bring a bagged lunch. Due to the possibility of food allergies, UMDGC cannot supply food for children that forget their lunches and cannot permit sharing of food.

Fields Trips

Field trips will be offered for some weeks at an additional cost. See field trip page for details.  

Missed Camp Days

Missed days of camp cannot be made-up nor credited/refunded.

Dance Camps

Camp Types, Shoe Requirements, and Dates

  • All-Inclusive: Ages 7-10. A fun-filled camp that combines ballet, jazz, tap and hip-hop. Modern dance as well as Irish and Scottish dance may also be taught by guest instructors. Tap shoes must be purchased or rented. Also, ballet/jazz shoes or bare feet needed for the other parts.

  • Combo: Ages 5-7.  Campers will enjoy ballet, tap, and jazz in the studio from 9:30-11:30 and gymnastics from 11:30-12:30.  Campers must participate in both portions for camp.  Tap shoes must be purchased or rented.  Bare beet or jazz/ballet shoes also needed.

  • Musical Theatre: Ages 8-12.  Focus on all aspects of musical theatre: basic vocals, acting, improv skills, and theatre jazz are combined.  Family members are invited to attend a mini performance on Friday morning.  No special shoes required.

  • Jazz/Hip-Hop: Campers will be split into two age groups: ages 7-9 and ages 10-14. Jazz portions require ballet/jazz shoes or bare feet. Hip-hop portions need clean hip-hop or street sneakers. Jazz portions require ballet/jazz shoes or bare feet. Hip-hop portions need clean street sneakers or hip-hop sneakers.

  • Jazz/Tap: Ages 7-10. Jazz portions require ballet/jazz shoes or bare feet. Shoes for tap portion must be purchased or rented.

Shoe Sizing and Rentals

Shoes may be purchased from UMDGC, Village Dance Shop in Wayne, or Floccos in Conshohocken. Tap shoes may be rented from UMDGC for $10 per week and must be kept at the studio. Shoe sizing for rentals and purchase must be done one week prior to the start of camp to guarantee availability.

Attire for all dance camps

Campers are permitted to wear dance/jazz pants, shorts or capri pants with tanks and T-shirts or leotard and tights. No jeans of any type permitted for camps. Flip-flops and heelies prohibited, even without wheels.

 

Gymnastics, Tumbling, & Girls Team Camps

Types

Participants will be split by camp type, skill level, age, and/or gender. After warm-up and stretch, morning activities will focus on skill development

  • Gymnastics: Ages 5+. Ideal for beginner through team members. Campers will receive instruction on all of the gymnastics equipment including trampoline and tumbltrak. Approximately one coach per 6-8 gymnasts.
  • Tumbling: Ages 5+. Perfect for cheerleaders looking to learn tumbling skills during the off-season. Focus will be on rolls, cartwheels, roundoffs, back handsprings, and back flips. Progressive instruction will be provided on the spring floor, foam floor, tumbltrak, and trampolines. Approximately one coach per 6-8 tumblers.
  • Girls Team: Level 5+ in the 2008-9 season. A more intense workout designed to prepare the gymnast for the next competitive season. Schedule includes morning and afternoon event workouts, required daily flexibility and strength, opportunity to participate in one afternoon activity, open workout, and special team camp-only activities. One coach per 8-10 gymnasts.

Annual Gymnastics Show

Our annual gymnastics show will be on Aug 1. Seating will be limited. Campers wishing to participate must (no exceptions) attend the same type and length of camp for four weeks prior to the show, including the weeks of Jul 21 and Jul 28.

Field Trips

In order to provide variety for our campers, UMDGC has arranged the following field trips. All trips are optional; normal activities will be held at the facility for all campers not attending the field trip. Transportation will be provided by Romano’s Bussing of Norristown. Returning times are approximate and will depend on traffic conditions. Each trip will be led by 3-4 staff members, depending on the nature of the trip and number of participants. If you have any suggestions for future trips, please let us know.
