CASEY, Samuel Lewis – Union man. Representative to 1st KY District in 37th Congress 1864. He was sent by President Lincoln to negotiate surrender of CSA west of MS River, got sick on return trip and didn’t get to Lincoln in time. 1863, appointed US Attorney for KY and declined. Appointed Military Governor of Mississippi. Appointed Inspector General with rank of Brigadier General (HUCKext)
