Don't get too many leg-less types 'round here..



I’ve always loved two types of mambas, the upbeat swaying across the dance floor and the deadly snake. Today I finally got to experience the second, a large green mamba!

The little kids stayed very still, leaning a bit away from it. "The Reptile Man" held it out on a long, curved stick; all five feet of it was shining a brilliant, bright green.

I had always loved watching it as a child on TV as it would lash out from branches and snatch birds in midair. Although it’s maximum speed of 13 mph seems slow, you get a bit worried watching it swipe towards the children in a small room.

After a time I found the pastel corn snake wrapped around my arm had fallen asleep. Or, at least, its eyes had been closed for a time. I really wished that, just once, I could hear a snake snoring…
