He married Bessie Wilma Murphy Bess.⁽²⁹³⁾ (Bessie Wilma Murphy Bess is #85.) Bessie was born in Dongola, Bollinger Cty., Missouri November 14, 1901. (Additional notes for Bessie Wilma Murphy Bess⁽²⁹⁴⁾) Bessie died December 1978 in St. Louis City, Missouri, at 77 years of age.⁽²⁹⁵⁾ At 29 years of age Bessie became the mother of Glenda Ann Bess Rutledge November 12, 1931.

At 30 years of age Sherman became the father of Glenda Ann Bess Rutledge November 12, 1931.

2 i. Glenda Ann² Bess Rutledge⁽²⁹⁶⁾ (#83) was born November 12, 1931. She married Edward Francis Rutledge in St. Louis City, Missouri, November 10, 1950.⁽²⁹⁷⁾ (Edward Francis Rutledge reference RUR00008) (Edward Francis Rutledge is #8.) Edward was born in Kinloch, St. Louis Cty., Missouri June 19, 1927. Edward⁽²⁹⁸⁾ is the son of James Henry Rutledge and Mary Frances Roman Rutledge. He resides in St. Louis City, Missouri. He was christened in Luthern, High Ridge, Mo. Edward's occupation: Chief Bldg Insp. At 24 years of age Edward became the father of Deborah Ann Rutledge Pratte in St. Louis City, Missouri, August 17, 1951. (See Edward Francis Rutledge for the continuation of this line.)

She resides in St. Louis City, Missouri. At 19 years of age Glenda became the mother of Deborah Ann Rutledge Pratte in St. Louis City, Missouri, August 17, 1951.
