This web site is dedicated to my grandfather, Frank Melko (S1C), who served on USS LST 173 during WWII from February 13, 1944 to December 15, 1944.

When I was young my grandfather taught me how to drive and work on cars.  He was very talented with his hands and could build and fix anything.  He loved sports and enjoyed coming to my high school football games to watch me play.   These are just some of the things that I will always remember about him.

Although he is no longer with us today, his memory and his service to our country will always be remembered.

His grandson,
Kevin Harris
