I am informing you of our temporary move from the Union Hall 617 Midland Ave. To 703 Midland Ave. The move will take place starting next week and ending on October 1. I am sure that there will be a few inconveniences involved in this move, and I am asking that the membership be patient and supportive so we can have a smooth transition. The biggest problem more than likely will be the phone system. This move should be for approximately 12 months, then we will move back into the newly remodeled Union Hall. We also will be temporarily changing the Monthly Meeting time from 4 pm. to 4:30 pm. The new temporary meeting location will be the new cyber school building 735 Midland ave. This will begin at the October Meeting. I will continue to update you as information is forthcoming.

Through continued diligent efforts by Union and Local Management officials .
All Midland Primary Asset Support Employees are being recalled immediately. At this time, the Company intends to prepare the Melt Shop in the event the Company receives enough business to restart the Melt Shop. The Company has no plan on when the Melt Shop may restart, as that will be dependent on future business conditions.
The Union will continue to work toward full employment for all Midland employees and will provide updates as they become available.

07/28/09 Today I have been in contact with a Representative from the Dept. of Labor. You should begin to receive informational letters pertaining to TAA benefits next week.We have tentatively set up August 10,2009 as the day at the Union Hall for these meetings. The times will be as follows 8:30, 10:30 1:30 and 3:30.
07/21/09 Some of the TAA benefits:
Expanded Health Care Coverage?Making HCTC Affordable for More Workers
The legislation amends the Health Coverage Tax Credit (HCTC) program by increasing the premium subsidy level from 65 percent tax credit/35 percent worker contribution to 80 percent tax credit/20 percent worker contribution. HCTC now provides workers with retroactive payments to help cover up-front costs of obtaining health coverage prior to the start of HCTC.
Additionally, the legislation provides some expanded COBRA coverage of spouses and dependents in the case of death or divorce.
$150 million in grant funding is available under this legislation to help states improve the availability of health insurance options, such as mini-cobra? laws.
Additional Income Support
An additional 26 weeks of income support in the form of Trade Readjustment Allowances (TRA) for workers who are in long-term training (for a total of 130 weeks).
07/15/09 Some of you will have lost your insurance benefits as of July 1st. You will be receiving a notification by July 20 to apply for your Cobra insurance.
I must emphasise the importance on returning the paper work on time ,also if you encounter any bills for which you have incurred an out of pocket expense please submit these bills to your Cobra insurance for reimbursement.
I have been in contact with the Dept. of Labor today - Monday, 07/13/09 .They have informed me that the Company will be supplying them with our employee mailing info so each employee will be receiving a personal letter informing them with all the pertinent information and an explanation of benefits. There will also be informational meetings setup in the near future.
Please click on: TAA to read the document.
07/07/09 Many of our members have exhausted their initial Unemployment Claim and I have been receiving some calls on the final benefit week being of a lesser amount. This is due to the balance that you are left with from your original claim, Therefore this would entitle you to a sub make up for the difference. You will need some additional info to receive the sub, a copy of the benefit payment information from your accountfor that week. Bring this to the union hall and I will fax your document to the proper parties. If you should need further assistance you can contact me at 724-773-2636
Health Ins. for college graduates: The student is covered through the end of the month in which they graduate. If the employee wants the child to be offered cobra, they must report the child's graduation to the benefits center (1-866-820-2822) within 60 days of their graduation date.
COBRA INFO: The Benefits Center will be sending the information to BCI on July 6. (BCI is the group that does the COBRA administration.) Employees can expect to get their COBRA packets within 2 weeks from then (around July 20). Coverage will be retro back to 7/1. They should be eligible for the subsidy (ee pays 35%), and the rates in the packet should reflect that.
For problems with your sub-pay, fax your new financial determination to Amy Eiter at 1-724-226-5879. If you don't have access to a fax machine, stop by the Union Hall.
In Solidarity, Tony

07/22/09 I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank the members who participated in the recent food drive on Saturday, June 27. Your efforts were greatly appreciated by all, especially the Salvation Army and the Community Resource Center, both of East Liverpool, Ohio. It is important to continue putting forth an effort of union involvement in the community. Throughout the history of the labor movement, unions have been at the heart of helping all people, not just union members. In this era of the rich getting richer, and the poor getting poorer, let us set an example to the younger generation that unions are always there for a hand up.
Thank You Again.
Ps:A special Thanks to:

On Saturday, June 27, several members of Local 1212 participated in a National Day of Service by helping with a food drive. The event was part of a national effort support health care reform. The food drive was very successful, with two pickup trucks worth of food and over $4oo collected. Everything collected stayed local, going to the Community Resource Center in East End and the Salvation Army.
Once again the members of 1212 have shown their commitment to their community, this time by volunteering to help their neighbors who might be struggling to put enough food on their tables.
Thanks to all members who helped and to all members who came out and showed their support by making generous donations
