This is my first
attempt at making a web page and building a jeep so bear with me on
both accounts.
Like the old saying goes jeeps are built, not bought. Well I built most of the parts I have added on and will in the future add full size drawings for any one wishing to build these parts. First let me say to those of you who don't own a jeep as of yet. Jeepers are a close nit family. First we wave to each other as we drive down the road, no we don't know each other but we all share the love of this American classic, the jeep. I found this same type of camaraderie when I rode my sister-in-laws Harley a few years ago while visiting her and my brother. I can't explain why they wave to each other as we jeeps do. Maybe its knowing they we, as a small part of America share the love of driving a truly American classic? This makes stopping some where fun. We Jeepers like to park next to each other at store hoping that we meet the other drivers and get a chance to talk about our toys. We form clubs and go on rides together, there just more that a trail ride its a chance to meet new friends and share stories of other trails and rides we have seen and been on. Does that explain it? No? Like the ole saying goes " It's a Jeep thing...you wouldn't understand ". Get one and find out. My Jeep is a 2001 Jeep wrangler ( TJ ) with the 4.0 straight six and three speed automatic transmission. Its is set up for rock crawling and a daily driver. I have a Dana 44 rear and a Dana 30 in the front with ARB's in both axles. I use a Viair 450 and a 2.5 gal tank to keep the ARB's filled. I have taken a another air valve an plumbed it into the tank to dump it when I am done playing, I do hate it when I have to crawl under the jeep and empty the tank of air and water. Second some of my good friends at Evco House of Hoses recommended that I use fuel line to run the air line from the compressor to the tank and out to the front quick disconnect. Since it will be subjected to automotive oils and such. To date I have added a 4.5 Tera-flex long arm kit, Tera-flex sway bar disco's, 4:1 Tera-Low and short shaft kit. Spicer drive lines finish that section of the jeep. The rock sliders were fabricated out by my friend over at Mepco 4x4, and rocker panels are my own design as is the front 2x5 front bumper. I will be adding technical drawings and a tracer template later on for any one interested in making a set for them selves. I do recommend they you at least try one or two mods your self . There is a great satisfaction when you bolt on a part of your own making. I installed both ARB's and changed the gears to 4:10's myself, frustrating as it was I am happy to have done that major part myself. The satisfaction is a great personal moral booster. With the horror stories I have heard about ARB's blue air lines, so I went with a partners suggestion and went tractor-trailer air brake lines instead. This black line is rated up to 600 psi and over 600 degrees. It installs just the same with quick disconnects but has the added feature of being D.O.T. approved. The freezing cold and hot summers of Utah so far hasn't effected it. And in the misfortune of being pulled out and hitting the exhaust it wont melt. So far the best investment I have ever made and there are truck stops every where in the US that have replacement lines.
