2001-2002 (Junior Year at Wyoming) Cross Country -- Joel placed 38th in the Mountain West Conference Meet and 100th in the NCAA Mountain Regional Meet thereby earning his second letter in Cross Country. Outlook for Track -- Joel will likely smash his 10K PR of 35:35.

2000-2001 (Sophomore year at Wyoming) -- Joel lettered in Cross Country and ran the 1500m and 10,000 meters in Track.

1999-2000 (Freshman year at Wyoming) -- Joel was redshirted in Cross Country and Track but ran unattached.

High School: Joel earned seven varsity letters in high school; four for cross country, two for track, and one in swimming. Joel was cross country team co-captain his senior year. Among Joels high school awards and honors are: cross country team MVP as a senior and Most Improved as a Junior, and Hardest Worker award in swimming. In high school Joel ran everything from the 800m to Olympic distance Triathlon. Joel won the Wisconsin State Junior Olympic 2000m Steeple chase with a time of 7:02.

Personal: Son of Mr. Daniel Hess and the late Mrs. Kiyomi Hess. Joel carries a 4.0 GPA going into his senior year and and was born October 30th, 1980.
