Since lots of people ask me about working at Comcast, I prepared a form email for just such inquiries.

===

Comcast is hiring.

While I can't bring people in, I can give you an "allegedly" expedited path into the hiring process. I am told that this "guarantees" you at least an initial read by a screener AND on any search where you "match" (whatever that means) you will sort higher than a competitor from other sources. (Or so I am told.)

Advise the seeker to go to http://careers.comcast.com, use the "referred by an employee" link. Here I'm known as "John Reinke 1800 BishopsGate Mount Laurel NJ #3000-22857". (You need that # to confirm the referral.)

And, they should drop me an email alerting me to our new found "friendship" with their resume. So if, and when, someone asks me about them, I'll know.

To ensure that hiring isn't unfairly impacted by "who you know", I am not permitted to "interfere" with the hiring process. That' means I don't get any feedback on the whole shooting match. Since I am not eligible for a finder's fee, I don't even know when some one does get hired. So, I have no vested interest in what happens. Other than the satisfaction of seeing a fellow "turkey" get in out of the cold.

But, that means, "checking in with me", "seeking feedback", "expressing interest" is a waste of everyone's time, paper, electrons, of voice. There is literally nothing I can do but commiserate with you.

Be advised that the process is agonizingly slow. It literally took 8 months from first contact to eventual hire in my case. I usnderstand that timeframe is not at all unusual.

So, here's a "back door" for you to use.

Good luck and good hunting.

P.S.: I have been told that the data asked for has changed. I am located at the 1800 Bishops Gate Drive Mt Laurel NJ location.  If you need something else, feel free to make it up because I've never gotten any feedback – good or bad – from all the uses of my cheat sheet.  :-)   Us against the system?
