Suggested Guide Books For England

Rick Steves' England 2007	Rick Steves combines history, accommodations, and restaurants in this easy to carry guide book. Steves' back door philosophy enables travels to experience the most England has to offer you. He gives you insightful information on the sites and museums as well as a good rating of the sites. Furthermore, Steves provides an insightful commentary for as well.
Rick Steves' London 2007	Rick Steves city book has everything you want to know about this historic city. Includes additional information for travelers planing to spend some time in this city.
Michelin Green Guide : Scotland (5th Ed)	I am including this green guide because I feel that travelers to England are missing a lot if they do not also visit Scotland. The green guide combines mythology, culture, and history into this insightful guide. The green guide rates the sites as well as provides important information about them. For the larger sites, it provides maps, and tours. This guide book is great companion to for Rick Steves' book.
Michelin Green Guide : England (4th Ed)	Like the green guide for Scotland, this green guide combines mythology, culture, and history into this insightful guide. The green guide rates the sites as well as provides important information about them. For the larger sites, it provides maps, and tours. This guide book is great companion to for Rick Steves' book.
Lonely Planet Britain	This mega guide provides you with a detailed list of accomidations, sites and restaurants. The guide also provides the traveler with a comprehensive history of the island. This guide lists any where you could imagine going in England. unfortunately, its huge so you may only want to include the portions where you want to go.
Lonely Planet Scotland	The Lonely planet has so much info about the island of Britiana they split it into a book on England and Scotland. The Scots have always wanted independence.
Lonely Planet Wales	This is a little out of date, so they should be coming out with a new one. I know people who will go to "England" for 3 weeks and spend all three of those weeks in Wales.
Rough Guide:Britain	Like the Lonely Planet, this mega guide provides you with detailed history, and cultural infomation about Great Britain. This guide also provides a detailed list of accomidations, as well as brief bits of history about various towns.
Other Guide Books These guide books seem popular but I have never read them so I can not give any feedback on them.
Let's Go London	Many people find Let's Go to be a bit large and confusing. However, it is written by students and it sells thousands of copies so I guess some people like it. You can also order "Let's Go"'s map of London. I do find their maps helpful.
Fodor's London	This book seems to get good reviews.
Fodor's Great Britain	All England version of the above book.

Eyewitness Great Britain Many people like this book because of its detailed pictures. It lets you know what to expect before you get there. Eyewitness London As I said with Rick Steves', London is a big city. This book gives you pictures. A help in the numerous museums.
