Lake merit is an urban, man made lake located near downtown Oakland. Most of its shores are lined with grassy greens and there is a running/walking path that goes around the lake. During the 1990's art deco lights were (re) installed giving the lake more appeal in the evening time. On a warm sunny weekend you can find scores of people out for a nice day at the lake, right in the downtown of a major city.
