Photographs of Oakland's Rockridge District

Rockridge InfoRockridge Photos
The Rockridge business district is the in the northeastern portion of Oakland. The district is marked by borders with Berkeley's Elmwood district to the North, and the Claremont and Montclair districts to the east. The district is a reminder how the businesses of Oakland moved northeast up Broadway during the 1930's and 1940's. While downtown Oakland experienced an economic slowdown during that period, Rockridge experienced a boom of shops and homes. The Rockridge district is a working class neighborhood that has established a name for itself with a series of shops along College Ave. I hope you enjoy the photos. Like I say it is an obsession, but I hope you can enjoy these strange creations too. Please note I am trying to be funny with my captions and comments.
