In ancient times, each city had an Acropolis which literally means high city. This fortified part of the city
sat on high grounds and housed the temples of the city as well as certain officials. It was the most defendable point on the city.
This is the site where the ancient Acropolis of Rhodes sat based on foundations found. The Italians tastefully reconstructed both
the theater (odon) and stadium. While there isn't much to look at, you are rewarded
with a terrific
view to the west of the sea and the north of Rhodes Town.
