Artist’s Statement

There is a place where I go, deep in my soul, which has an affinity with legends, myths, ancient stories and old tales. That tantalizing realm where magic brews, spells are cast, destinies are forged and the gods once ruled. A domain which is peopled with strong and courageous warriors, wise and chivalric men;  fierce and beautiful goddesses.

It is a realm where wishes have substance, dreams become reality. Supernatural creatures, both the good and evil, play out dramas which resonate with universal truths and lessons.

I go to this place and try, through my art,  to recreate the grandeur, mystery, reverence and magic  of the ancient tales.

It is a realm of fantastic creatures. Mermaids and faeries, gods and goddesses. Each having a special story to tell, a special lesson or insight into the culture from which it came.

We are better and more whole to know these  myths and legends - whether we believe  them is of no consequence. The good ones are like a shining beacon which uplifts our hearts and confirms that which we know to  be true and whole. The dark ones stand as testament to the evil which dwells in the hearts of the wicked.

I try, through my art, to keep alive these legends, myths and folk-stories because I believe they are an invaluable resource for understanding who we are, who we were, and who we can become.
