begins. Possibly at the skippers meeting.
Fleet Actions - the racing boats (excepting the rabbit) must pass on starboard tack between the starting mark and the rabbit after the starting signal (rabbit position 4) and the end of the starting period (rabbit position 5). The racers may not tack after starting until the rabbit has tacked at position 5. If a boat fails to start properly before the rabbit reaches position 5 and tacks, then she must sail to position 5 (approximately) before proceeding.
Exact timing plays no role in the outcome of of a handicap race using time-on-distance calculations. If the racers are required to take their own finishing time they must do so by recording accurate time of day (near GPS quality), not their elapsed time.
