2 years
and 35,000 miles
More
than two years actually. Still no
reliability problems, knock on wood. I
am not a fan of the 2005 front end, but that just adds value to our older
models, right? I do appreciate the
painted mirrors on the 2005, a poor choice Pontiac made to save a few cents on
the earlier monotone Vibes.
This
year’s discoveries:
- The cabin air filter
is unique to the Vibe; don’t try to fit the similar Toyota filter. (Many other parts, especially engine
parts, are cheaper and more available at Toyota.)
- The air conditioning hasn’t
gotten any worse, so I assume it is just a little undersize.
- Another mysterious
rattle turned out to be the passenger seatbelt stalk – this one only
happens with no passenger (and no help to find the rattle), and only when
the stalk is in exactly the wrong position.
Otherwise,
things are going well. The original
battery is fine, and the paint looks new despite never having been waxed. (It helps to park in a garage and live in a
state that does not use salt on roads.)
Water beads up on the windshield as if it were waxed, and there are none
of the water spots I see on other cars.
Overall, components seem to be of good quality. This one is a keeper.
