Katie Chitty
Please pray for my dear friend Katie. Because of the downturn in business, she lost her job as our company secretary today. Her real need is for insurance for her disabled husband. His meds and oxygen are due for refill and she will no longer have insurance. I have worked with Katie for 25   years and highly reccomend her. If  you know anyone who needs an office manager or secretary, please let me know. Or email Katie @ chittybk@bellsouth.net.

Job 37:5  At God's command amazing things happen, wonderful things that we can't understand-

Dear loved ones, this Bible verse so precious to me sums up our lives since July.  The roller coaster has reallly slowed down, life is almost calm on Gilstead Circle in Huntsville.  God is so good.  To think that Kate goes every week day to do the thing she desired most to do and does it so well that she makes 100's, can you believe that!  I really can't wrap my mind around those horrible weeks and then warp speed to now.  It's  too much for my brain so I just Praise His Holy Name and I'm back at His Grace again and all is well. Your love, concern and of course, your prayers are what brought us through while God was dealing with Katie May.  You can believe that we were praying you right back, we believe in pay it forward and that is what we were doing.
In this blessed time of year, we wish all of you a wonderful, joyful Christmas and a blessed New Year.
Love and blessings,
Linda and Vance

Sam and Kari
Our daughter, Kari, and her husband, Sam, live in Arvada, Colorado. On a Sunday afternoon in September they were driving a few blocks from their home with their sons, Micah (12) and Isaiah (10). A 17-year-old boy whom they did not know came by on a skateboard and grabbed onto the passenger-side window for a quick 4-5 second &quotride." As he released from the car, he fell off his skateboard and hit the pavement. He was not wearing a helmet and died 12 hours later from head trauma. Sam and Kari were completely heart-broken, and the family of the boy does not blame them for the accident.
However, the legal system there has charged Sam with Criminally Negligent Homicide (felony) and Reckless Driving Resulting in a Death (misdemeanor). The legal fees in this matter are overwhelming and way beyond their ability to pay. To add to this situation, their furnace has broken beyond repair and they have no heat in their home other than a few space heaters.
Stephen and Sandra joined St. Luke's on the Lake in 1970. Kari was born in 1974 and was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Luke's. She made her YES and Happening Weekends in the Diocese of Texas. After high school she went to Youth With A Mission where she met Sam. Although no longer with YWAM, they still live in Arvada where Sam is self-employed and is in between major contracts at this time.

I want to add my thanks to those expressed in Shane's message below.  Friends and family have really showered us with kindnesses this holiday season.  And we want to thank each of you again for your greatest gift to us...your continuing prayers for Laura's health and recovery.  She has had some rough days recently, but she still keeps shining through all of it.  We know your prayers and God's love are all that allow us to make it through each day.  As we celebrate Jesus' birth at this wonderful time of year, we hope you and your families will have a very, very Merry Christmas.
To All,
It has been a while since I sent out an update, so here we go.... Laura has been battling the last month or so but has not been able to make much progress in regaining her strength.  She is battling shingles on her back and has been having some pain in her back.  She has had trouble getting comfortable which makes eating, sleeping, watching TV, answering email and just about everything else a battle.   We continue to fight one thing and another thing pops up that needs attention.  With all that said, I would be telling a story if I said we were not totally exhausted.  We continue to pray for God to give us the strength to get through each day.  We are taking one day at a time and continue to pray for Laura's strength and full recovery.  We went to the doctor yesterday and Laura's blood counts were improved and the doctors decided to start her on a  steroid regiment.  I will report that in less than 24 hours, much of the pain and dis comfort is gone and she is wheeling around the house telling me how to rearrange everything (this is the first sign she is feeling better)...... This makes all the tired bodies feel much better at our house for sure!!  I pray she continues to improve and we are able to get out some to see family and friends soon.
Thank you all for all the prayers, cards, thoughts, calls, cookies, candy, visits, emails, turnip greens, peanuts, and all the other stuff.....  Please keep up the prayers and we know God is with us each day....
Have a Merry Christmas and we hope to see everyone soon!!!

Lois "Dottie" Myrick
Please pray for my aunt, Lois "Dottie" Myrick (who is like a second mother to me.)  She was hospitalized yesterday due to an abnormal heart rhythm.  She has received one dose of the medication to get it back into rhythm, but it hasn't worked yet.  She is scheduled to have a heart cath on Friday.   She has had several health issues since July---back surgery, pacemaker, a broken hand that required surgery and now this.  She could really use your prayers.  Also, pray for my mother who is taking care of my aunt and has Parkinson's.
Thanks!

Dee Counce
Dee Counce is a former co-worker of mine. We worked together at Social Security for many years before she retired. I am sending the note she forwarded to those she used to work with, and I am asking you remember her and Noel in prayer. Her note is an inspiration in and of itself. God bless you much as you pray! Vic

Dear Family and Friends,
The time has come to let you know that there are no more treatments that can be done for my cancer. The clinical trial at Sarah Cannon Research Institute in Nashville, TN did not work. The lesions/tumors in my lungs are rapidly growing and a new lesion has come near my heart. Noel and I were informed of this news on November 5th after a CAT scan.
I have had hospice care for the past month. The hospice nurse comes weekly as well as the social worker and the chaplain. I have oxygen tanks which I am using more frequently as it becomes more difficult to breathe. Of course, I am on a walker and using a wheelchair as the cancer is deteriorating my left hip.
I have accepted my situation in my heart and my head. I have kept the faith for the past 8 years as I battled this disease. I know the good Lord has been with me throughout these years. I have appreciated all the prayers, concern, encouragement, support and love everyone has shown to me. I know God will continue to care for me and take me to a better home.
I do ask for your continued prayers. Please ask God to strengthen Noel and me as we face this together. Please keep in touch with me. I love you and thank you for being my family and friend.
I would love for you to visit or call me. I am home during the week as Noel is still working. I am being baby-sat by family and friends, usually on 3-3 1/2 hour shifts. I would love to see you or talk with you on the phone.
Love,
DEE

Irene Burbank
Please remember my mother, Irene Burbank, and our family in your prayers.  Several months ago they found a spot on one of her lungs and a needle biopsy was performed, but it did now indicate cancer.  Today we found out that the spot has grown in the last 3 months.  They will do some more tests next week before plotting a course of action.  We know that God is good and we pray for that goodness over her, my Dad and family as we await more news.  Thanks for being such awesome prayer warriors!

Paula Phillips
Please pray for Paula Phillips.  As many of you know, Paula has MS and has been unable to walk for some time.  She is currently in Huntsville Hospital after having a pump installed that will administer her medication directly into her spine.  She is in a good bit of pain and as of last night her legs were not working as was expected.  Please keep Paula and her family in your prayers.  She is a fighter and can do more with her limitations than most people who are able to walk!  She is such a blessing to all of us.
Susan Cosby

UPDATE: 12/15/2008
Please continue to pray for Paula Phillips.  She was able to come home from the hospital on Friday, but is still having difficulties.  She doesn't have control yet over her legs and she continues to have pain from the incision.  Keep her & her family in your prayers.

Christopher Stotts
Subject: Medical Emergency

Just wanted to let everyone know that my son Christopher was admitted this evening to NICU at Huntsville Hospital.  He has a mass on the frontal lobe of his brain right above his right eye.  They will be performing an MRI later tonight after attempting to get the swelling under control.  It looks as though he may have to have surgery in the morning. I would appreciate lots of prayers.. Thanks,
 Paula Stotts
UPDATE: 12/10/2008
The surgery is complete took about one hour – they say they got it all – 2 masses; one the size of a golf ball, the other the size of an orange.
Expect him to go home in 3 days!
Paula thanks everyone for their support and prayers.

Clifford Nordine
Please add Clifford Nordine to your prayer list.    He is recovering from a broken vertebra at the J.W. Sommer Rehab Unit at Shoals hospital.  They have not determined what caused the break, but doctors feel he is a good candidate for rehab. Since Clifford just completed his walk, I know hearing from any of you would be very encouraging.   His address is Room 107, J. W. Sommer Rehab. Unit, Shoals Hospital, 201 W. Avalon Ave., Muscle Shoals, AL   35661.   His phone # is 386-1853.
Thanks so much.    Sherry
