Urgent Prayer needed for Stover family
01/30/09 20:43
I
have a prayer request for a co-worker of mine along
with his family. His name is Paul Stover and his
wife's name is Gina. This morning his middle daughter
Whitney, who was 16,was involved in a fatal car
accident at Dan Tibbs Road and Research park drive.
She initially survived the accident and called her
parents. She was pinned in the car and could not get
out. About the time her parents arrived, the engine
caught fire and while the parents watched, their
daughter was engulfed in flames and was burned to
death. It is about as horrific a scenario as anyone
could ever imagine. I passed the accident scene on
the way to work, not knowing who was involved and it
was unbelievable. It appears a flat bed cargo truck
ran a stop sign trying to get across research park
drive. Their family are very strong Christians and
Whitney was saved. Please Pray for this family!

Jackie Roberson and her family

Dear
Prayer Warriors,
My co-worker and very good friend, Jackie Roberson and her family need your prayers. On January 6, Jackie's 34-year-old daughter in law passed away suddenly. She left behind 3 small children for her husband to raise alone. Abby is 6, Katie is 2 and Rex is 2 months. This sweet family is having a hard time putting their lives back together after Mandy's death and I'm asking for your earnest prayers for them. Jackie's son, Charlie, is a very good father, but he is overwhelmed right now. He has very good family support from his in-laws and his parents, and they ALL need your prayers. I'm asking you to pray for the Roberson and Greer families during this very difficult time.
In Christ,
Susan Cosby

UPDATE: 01/30/2009
Thank you sooooo much for taking the time to care. I wanted to give you an update on Brian O'Neal. He's doing better than expected. We are thrilled and believe it is answered prayer. Thank you for your prayers. Everything we prayed for has come true so far. We give God the glory.
Here's the Update:
He's in room 261 @ Keller Hospital. He's come through the surgery without a colonoscopy!!! Yeah!!! The preliminary reports are that the mass was benign. Now, we are just dealing with a 13 inch incision that is very painful. Everything else is the BEST that can be expected with this huge incision. We are praying for continued healing and that the final pathology report will be benign. You can call us at 386-4261 if you would like. Just keep in mind, he's on morphine. He's been funny but not quite making sense all the time.
We will be there 3-4 more
days.
Thanks for caring....you have been a blessing in our lives.

wife) was feeling bad and passed out at church. She

UPDATE: 01/29/2009
Philip just called. After the cerebral angiogram yesterday afternoon, doc ordered another ct scan of Chrisy's head. Dr. Sultan (neuologist) told them just now that he confirmed there is a blood clot in the "spot of concern" he saw yesterday morning in one of her veins on the back of her head. He told us yesterday that he didn't think the spot was serious. Today, he is telling them differently. He is giving Chrisy a shot, then monitor her and then start her on cumidin (sp??). He expects her to be in the hospital 4 more days. Thanks for your prayers!

I
just felt led to send this email to a few people. I
can't imagine what this couple is feeling or how they
are coping right now. We do serve a BIG God. Please
lift this couple and this baby that HE has placed in
this mothers womb in prayer. They need to be covered
daily in prayer. As we have children of our own we
are truly blessed.
Thank you,

Dear Friends,
We just wanted to thank you for your warm wishes and excitement regarding our pregnancy. We waited many years before starting our family and were thrilled to share our news over the past few months.
Just before Christmas break, Johnna’s OBGYN mentioned that the amniotic fluid appeared low and that she should return in a few weeks to check it again. At that time, we were informed that this could be due to dehydration. On December 30th, we returned to the doctor to find that there was no fluid present and our doctor referred us to the Maternal/Fetal Medicine Clinic (UAB Health Systems). After seeing a doctor within this high-risk group on January 2nd, we learned that our baby has “bilateral renal agenesis” which is the absence of kidneys, ureters and the accompanying arteries. This means that the baby cannot make amniotic fluid (which is the baby’s urine) and therefore will not have any fluid to help it’s lungs mature or grow for the rest of the pregnancy.
Our doctors expect the baby to go full term (or close to it) but its lung and kidney problems will not be allow it to live very long (typically only a 30 minutes but could be up to a few hours). Although we are devastated now, we know the worst is to come and are trying to prepare ourselves with each passing day. What should be the happiest time of our lives together has now become the saddest. Our doctors said the best thing for us to do is go about our normal routine, and that is what we will do as best we can. We're just trying to take it one day at a time...
Intellectually, we understand what is happening, but for us this is an emotional struggle and test of faith like we'd never thought possible. We will have another ultrasound at UAB on January 16th and will be seen by the UAB physicians and our OBGYN for the remainder of Johnna’s pregnancy.
We know many of you are already praying for us and we feel those prayers everyday. If you wish, please pray specifically for the following:
1. That the baby be comfortable and pain-free during pregnancy and delivery (lack of fluid can cause space for the baby to be very compressed)
2. That we have AS MUCH TIME AS POSSIBLE with our baby after delivery
3. That we know what to do regarding medical decisions before and after the birth
Please feel free to pass along our situation to others we know or don’t know (Sunday school prayer list, church prayer list, etc).
Thank you for your friendship and prayers during this very difficult time. Jeremy & Johnna Stafford

My
brother, William Rhodes, got a very good report,
yesterday. The cancer is contained in one gland and
is only 30%. He will see Dr. Clarke on Monday to
discuss options. God is good all the time, and
all the time God is good! Thank you all for your
prayers. Please continue to pray for healing and
remember Sheila and their children and grandchildren.
Love you all,

UPDATE: 01/30/2009
TO ALL MY RELATIVES AND FRIENDS:
WE SAW DR. CLARKE THIS MORNING AND WERE VERY PLEASED WITH HIM. HE DISCUSSED TWO TREATMENTS - 1) RADIATION TREATMENTS 5 DAYS A WEEK FOR 8 WEEKS OR 2) SEEDS IMPLANT WHICH WOULD BE INTERNAL RADIO ACTIVE SEEDS (ONE TIME TREATMENT) THAT HAVE BEEN PROVEN EFFECTIVE ALSO. WE ARE GOING TO DO THE IMPLANT, IF POSSIBLE. THE NEXT STEP IS AN ULTRA SOUND TO
DETERMINE THE SIZE OF THE PROSTATE GLAND. IF IT IS ENLARGED, WE WILL HAVE TO DO THE EXTERNAL TREATMENTS, BUT IF NOT ENLARGED, WE WILL SCHEDULE A TIME FOR THE IMPLANT. SO OUR NEXT STEP IS TO WAIT FOR DR. CLARKES' SECRETARY TO CALL US WITH AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE ULTRA SOUND.
WILLIAM & I ARE BOTH DOING WELL. HE TOLD US THAT OUT OF 5 CELLS BIOPISED BY DR. PRITCHARD ONLY ONE WAS CANCEROUS, SO THAT IS GREAT NEWS TO US. WE APPRECIATE ALL THE PRAYERS AND CONCERN SHOWN US AND LOVE YOU ALL.

Sara Kane
01/20/09 21:11
Please
be in prayer for Sara. She is originally from
England, moved to Louisiana and then here after her
life was turned upside down from hurricane Katrina.
She works for Scottie Floyd, the chef here at
Cypress Lakes. When she first came on board,
both Scottie and I talked with her about Jesus but
she really was not interested in what we had to say.
That has not stopped us from sharing when we
could.
For the past month or so, she has been going through a lot of health issues. She had a heart attack (I think she is in her early 40's), then had to get several abscessed wisdom teeth removed, Saturday night she went to the ER and was told she had a detached retina. She has been struggling financially as she does not have insurance. Several churches/Sunday School classes have stepped up to pay for some of her burden.
I spoke with her this past Friday and she told me that she has had a lot of time by herself with these illnesses. She said that she started to talk to "someone". It brought me such joy that the seed has started to sprout HOWEVER....Scottie and I have both been led by the Holy Spirit, and strongly feel that she is under Spiritual Warfare. Satan is really working her and throwing everything he can to detour her from the Salvation she is seeking and needs.
I say ALL of that to say, please pray that our Father will take her in His arms and protect her from the enemy. That the seed which was planted will continue to grow, and her curiosity will draw her closer to Him. Pray for her finances and that her health issues will diminish. Oh, by the way, she went to a retina specialist yesterday and it is NOT a detached retina but cat scratch fever... PTL!
Thank you in advance for your time and prayer.

Last Thursday evening,
I began to feel that I was going to pass
out. [I have had an intestinal disturbance
since my endoscopy and colonoscopy on Thurs. Jan.
8.] I started hemmoraging and we rushed to ECM
ER. My bp was in the 80s/40s and I was so
weak. Blood work came back that my hemoglobin
was 9, hematocrit was 28. [We have worked
1 1/2 years to get those numbers up to 11.5 and 34;
in the lowest normal range.] I was admitted for
observation.
Early, the next morning, Friday, I had a nuke test, to tag red blood cells and show "hot" spots in the intestines. By this time active bleeding had stopped. Praise God!
They performed the test again about 1p. Only one "hot" spot showed up, but it was so faint and and small; it indicated the bleeding had stopped.
My numbers had dropped to 7 and 24. I was given a unit of blood. By 6a Sat. my numbers were back to 9 and 28.
I was allowed clear liquids, Fri. night and Sat. I came home Sat. afternoon. I got sick after dinner, severe nausea. I was soooo sick. Called the doc. He said since I didn't have a fever and was not passing any blood, to stay home and start drinking the Gateraid-type drinks or I would get dehydrated. If fever or bleeding began, get to ER asap.
I have been and will be on full/clear liquids until after Thursday, when I swallow the CamPill. I have to go back to the hospital to do that.
I am very weak; but I do feel alive and much better today. I am alternately walking and resting, trying to build strength.
The doc. thinks that the place that was cautarized when he removed one little polyp [not pre-cancer], never healed. Thursday evening, during an event of diarrhea, the tissue around that spot was torn.
The pictures from the CamPill should show everything in the digestive system.
I appreciate all of you . . . for a time there, I felt so bad and was so weak, we weren't sure how much trouble I was really in. Life is precious . . . we know that, but at times I have to be reminded. I am Blessed to know you.

The
Mission Society selects a few of their missionaries
to pray for each week. We are picked for next
week (Jan 19-23).
As God's timing goes, I have a big prayer request (See #1). I thought I would also share our requests with you.
Here are the prayer requests that I turned in for Amy & me:
1) Jonathan's job situation: I have a big project due by Jan. 22nd at work. I have been under a lot of pressure and having to work 12-16 hours a day for weeks. It is a very stressful situation. When I originally took this job (with a small software company of 12 people) I knew it would be a challenge, but really felt I was supposed to take the job (and still feel that way). My boss, the CEO, and one of the salesmen are atheist. I don't expect to led them all to Christ, but I know that is part of the reason I am supposed to be here. Please pray for the ability to complete my project on time, for strength coping with the stress, and that my co-workers will see Christ's love in me.
2) We have been invited to speak at the Global Impact Celebration conference at Tuscaloosa UMC at Tuscaloosa, AL on February 4-8. This is our first time to be involved with a GIC, and are not sure what all is involved. Please pray that our nerves will be calmed and that God will give us the words to say.
3) We sent out our first batch of initial support letters right before Christmas. Please pray that even during these "tough financial times" that God will led people to support us financially.
Thank you,
