Once again I want to thank each of you for your prayers and support for Laura and for Shane, Mary Jim and me. Mary Jim and I echo the sentiments Shane expresses in his message below. Please continue to lift Laura up in your prayers often.
Oscar Beck
We brought Laura home from the hospital yesterday. She is still very sick and continues to battle each day. Her body is wearing out but her spirit and fight continues. We still have faith and we know God is with us each day. Laura is comfortable and we are getting some help to keep her that way. Only God knows what the path in front of us looks like and we just have to have faith to walk it and to laugh, smile and cry as we do. I want every one to know that while none of us understands Why.... we still have to stand faithful and make all of our journeys amazing. I would be telling a story if I said my heart was not heavy and broken as I continue to walk with Laura and watch what she continues to go through each day but what I can say is to watch her smile and continue to put others in front of herself is truly amazing. She
continues to find ways to smile and make all around her laugh. So please continue to laugh, smile and cry with us as we continue to travel this OneAmazingJourney..... Thank you for your prayers, thoughts and the unending support that is poured over us each day.

Susan
Beckett's mom, Betty Green, was traveling on a three

sooner. Please pray Betty and Susan and the rest of
the family. Vic

Sue Henry's son-in-law
02/25/09 21:58
After
15 years of devoted time to working for a company, my
son-in-law was laid off. He had no idea this
was coming and they are all devastated. They
have a 7 year old boy and a 5 year old daughter.
I realized there are so many people
out there that need our prayers that are going
through the same thing my kids are going through.
We are all going through some hard times right
now and we all need to hold on to our faith, but
there are those that are losing faith and need our
prayers. God is good ALL the time. Thank
you for your prayers. Sue Henry

Chris & Jill Update

I am
forwarding a note from my brother about his son and
new grandson.... Luke. Please says prayers of good
health, good wishes and God's will.
Nita Jean Burns
We appreciate your prayers for our kids (Chris, Jill and Luke). It has been a difficult week, but the good news is that the court date is now behind them and they are in their 10 day waiting period before they can leave and officially have Luke as their son. Luke has bronchitis and now chicken pox since Tuesday. Please pray for his complete healing because they can't move him until he is well. Since Luke has chicken pox, he cannot come to their hotel and must stay in the orphanage until he is not contagious. And, he cannot be visited on the weekend or holidays. Monday is a holiday in Russia, so they may have to sit around a hotel room for 3 days without seeing Luke and with no english speaking TV stations and their PC crashed. They have been unable to find someone to help in restoring the PC since they can't find anyone who speaks english to ask. They are stuck in their hotel room with temperature at 0 F or lower. There current plans are to leave Khabvorsky on March 7th and stay in Moscow from the 7th till the 12th to obtain Luke's visa and final paperwork. Chris's company, BioCryst has been great and told him not to worry about anything.
Again, thanks for your interest and prayers. Steve White
UPDATE: 02/22/2009
I hope you are all doing great! We are still hanging out here in Russia waiting on Luke to get well enough to come back to our hotel with us. He got the chicken pox this past week and has just had a rough few weeks (he had bronchitis and an ear infection). On Sat. when we saw him last (it is Mon here now) he was doing much better and we are hoping that tomorrow (today is a Russian holiday so the orph is close to outsiders) the orph drs will think he is well enough to come back to the hotel with us. We will be here in Khabarovsk for 12 more days-and then go to Moscow for 6 more days. We will definitely be glad to get home!
Cant wait to see y'all!

My
daughter, Stephanie Ingmire, was laid off over 6
months ago from a really good paying job after 14
years. She was tried everything short of flipping
burgers and is either over qualified or one among a
huge crowd of applicants. This morning she had an
interview for a job that she is very qualified for,
and the company was impressed with her. She will not
know until March if she got the job. Please pray that
God would open the door for to be come employed
again.

got word at the Cluster meeting tonight that Dru
Gambrell's daughter in law, Christie, is in the E/R
at ECM. No other details at this time. Please lift
her up!

UPDATE:
Please pray -- Ed took Chrisy to ER - she is having another stroke - - blind spot in her left eye, slurring words, cant' walk.
Thank you for prayers for Chrisy. She was transferred by ambulance to Vanderbilt, arriving there about 9 p.m. She had another event today like the ones she had January 25 and 26. Then the diagnosis was a light stroke and there was a blood clot in a vein in the back of her head between the hemispheres of her brain. Initial tests this afternoon revealed nothing different from the January tests. We thank you for your concern. Dru
UPDATE: 02/19/2009
Philip just called. Vandy doc. are SURE there is no blood clot nor stroke; Chrisy's brain is healthy. They think these events are started by migraines. They are developing a treatment plan for her. Philip sounded excited; they expect to be dismissed this afternoon. Thank you so much for prayers and thoughts! Support by your concern is meaningful!

Vikki
is having a brain procedure tomorrow. There is one
particular lesion that is giving her the most
problems so the neurosurgeon is going to go in and
drain it. He will then put in a
small tube that will help with any
future draining. At the end of the tube will be a
"button" (located right under her skin) that
will server as a kind of reservoir. If indeed there
is more fluid build up, they can insert a needle into
the "button" and aspirate rather than going into the
brain again. She will spend tomorrow night in ICU and
will be able to go home the next morning. Next week
she will go back and they will do gamma knife
radiation (radiation directly into the lesion) on the
2 lesions that remain. This should help trememdously
with the headaches, etc. and increase her quality of
life. We are all real excited about it and thankful
there is something available for her. The surgery
should be about noon tomorrow (tues.) so please take
a minute to lift her up, along with Philip AND the
surgeon. Thanks, Lynn

Very
early Saturday morning (around 1 am) the mission team
from Tuscumbia United Methodist Church, Rogersville
United Methodist & Talladega (sorry, not sure
what denomination) will leave for
Honduras. This team consists of several Shoals
Emmaus Cluster members --Jamey Cosby, Randy Davis,
Griffin Bond, Darrell Nelson, Beth Wilcoxen, Chris
Crunk, Terry Marmann, Betty Belue, Joel Parris,
Cathryn Bickley, Stacey Norwood, Jim & Pat Maddox
& Ted Peterson---(I may not have a correct list
of team members--sorry!), or their children.
Please pray for their safety and that the villagers
will be open to the message of Christ's saving
grace.

Sandra's co-worker
02/05/09 17:47
A
co-worker of mine has a friend who was diagnosed with
liver cancer the week before Christmas. She has been
to several of the cancer doctors in the area as well
as being in touch with out of town cancer centers.
She is not being given much hope that anything can be
done. But we all know the power of prayer and what
God can do. Please feel free to reword and post this
to the prayer chain. And if this has already been
posted previously, perhaps a reminder would be
nice.

Laura
is having some tough days right now. Shane's
message below provides details on her present
condition. We continue to be amazed at how well
she handles all these situations, but we know she
gets her strength from God and from the support of
family and friends like you. We appreciate all
the prayers and other expressions of support
you've given us in the past and know we can count on
those to continue.

To All,
Laura began another round of radiation yesterday. They are radiating her brain in an attempt to reduce the tumors and also to help with the fluid retention that is causing headaches and some double vision. Laura is very tired and has not been feeling well for a few weeks. She has been able to work on her computer some the last few days so some of you may have received messages from her. The radiation and some of the medications that she is taking make her very fatigued. This has made it very difficult for her to visit with people but we have seen a few which is wonderful. She is not eating much due to the fact that the radiation to her neck the past few weeks has given her a very sore throat. Hopefully this will get better soon. We are going to Columbus every day for treatment and she will receive 10 treatments. Please pray for her comfort and healing. She continues to battle through all the pain and continues to push forwa rd. Her spirit never ceases to amaze me and her faith gets stronger each day. We also ask that you pray for our strength and courage as we walk this path. We take one day at a time and thank you for all your prayers, cards, emails, and texts. Thanks again for everything,
Shane

Urgent.
Prayer request for Paige. We are asking that you
cover Paige, Bailey, and Parker with constant prayer
for the next several days. Satan is working
mightily to completely destroy Paige’s trust,
faith and even belief in God’s great love for her.
Please pray for her mental and physical strength to
resist the stronghold of the enemy.

I had a
mammogram last Thursday (since I still had insurance
coverage thru Feb 6th). I received a call from
the Dr's office at 10:30 this morning stating that
Dr. Keith wanted me to go to a surgeon to review my
films per the radiologist's request. I was able to
get in with Dr. Meckes this afternoon. He is a
member at the club I worked at. He will be
doing a biopsy on Friday at 8:30 at the Shoals
Hospital. He will try one procedure
first but if he can't get to the mass (it is
close to my chest bone) I will have to go to the
OR for him to insert a wire into the breast to get to
the mass. I will not know the results until
probably Tuesday/Wednesday next week. Please
keep me and Kirsten in your prayers...this has really
been a tough couple of weeks for us.
Regards,
Lori
