Update on Sarah Lyndon
03/22/09 19:58
Wonderful
news! Sarah has gotten out of the hospital and
is napping at home like a 3-month old baby
should! Hard to believe that she could go home
after having had open-heart surgery just last
Wednesday. They took her IV port, central port,
and all monitors off this morning and her
echocardiogram indicated she was doing great!
Her skin is so sensitive, that the places where the
bandages and monitors came off are probably more
painful than the rest of her wounds. Thank you
SO much for all your prayers, calls, and
concerns. We could "feel" them! It's
amazing to see how God has worked so many miracles in
her life and in others. It's such a
blessing to see her smiling again and to be her
grandmother. God bless!

Betty Green
03/22/09 19:49
I
am back at UAB. Mother has done well this week
so they are taking her in for her surgery in the
morning around 5:00 a.m. They will perform a 4
hour surgery to replace her aortic valve and do 2
bypasses. The Dr. feels like she is ready now.
Please keep her in your prayers as she is a
little nervous after all she has been through.
Susan Beckett
UPDATE: 03/25/2009
Dear Prayer Warriors,
I just heard from Susan Beckett regarding her mother, Betty Green. Betty had surgery Monday, but suffered a bad stroke after that. She is in a precarious situation, and the extent of the damage is not known at this time. Doctors had to open her up again due to bleeding under her left breast caused by a vessel tear from one of the tubes. It's a lot for a 74 year old woman to bear. It's also taking a toll on the family who are at the hospital giving support. Please pray for Betty and the medical team as they minister, and for the family, as they are exhausted and wrestling with discouragement.
Thanks! And, may God's grace be multiplied to you all!

Sarah Abigail Lyndon

Please
add Sarah Abigail Lyndon to the prayer list.
She is 3 months old and the granddaughter of Kay
Davis and Ann Lyndon. She will be having
open-heart surgery at UAB Hospital on Tuesday, March
17, and we need all the prayers we can get.
Please pray for our Lord to guide the hands of the
surgeons and bring little Sarah out of her 6 hour
surgery with success. Many thanks!
God bless!
Kay
UPDATE: 03/17/2009
Sarah was scheduled for surgery Tuesday but was bumped due to another child needing a transplant. Surgery to repair her heart is now scheduled for Wednesday.
UPDATE: 03/19/2009
Just thought I'd let you know the latest. Most of you have probably heard from Ann or Jennifer or me when our phones would get range, but for those of you that haven't heard - Sarah went through surgery great! We have been able to see her - with her thousand wires and tubes connected (what a sad sight!) She'll be in ICU at least thru tomorrow and then be in a cardiac hospital room for at least another 3 days before she'll be able to go home with Mom and Dad (and both grandmothers following). Kim and Will are planning on staying with her each night once she is out of ICU. If all goes well, when she wakes up they can take away all the respirators, etc, and feed her. Don't know how long it will be till they can actually HOLD her, but it won't be soon enough! We are all so thankful for all the concerns and prayers - without which things would not have gone so well. Our blessed Lord had her in His hands and guided the surgeons hands to do what needed to be done. We give Him the glory! Thank you so much for all the love and prayers sent our way! We feel very blessed to have such wonderful friends.
God bless!

UPDATE: 03/17/2009
I just thought I would give everyone an update on Shawn, I hate it when you get prayer request and never get to hear how the person is doing and to hear the praise of the Lord. Shawn is at home and doing well with no lasting paralyses. The doctor said it was not a stroke but was due to stress and fatigue. I give God all the praise and the glory for the healing. Shawn and Tonya have been under a lot of stress, their house burned back in October and they have met with many obstacles while trying to rebuild their home. They are almost finished rebuilding finally. They are ready to start painting the inside and hopefully will be back in their home by mid April. Thank you all so very much for your prayers for our family. Continue to pray for us as we also pray for you and your families.

Jill, Chris and Luke White Update
03/10/09 07:41
From
the new mother, Jill White
Hey Everyone-
We have made it to Moscow-and it has continued to snow here for us-although it is considerably warmer than Khabarovsk. After a rough few days, we thought we might never leave Khabarovsk. Our plane was delayed for exactly a day-so we arrived in Moscow at about 4:30 pm on Sunday. Luke has been such a trooper-even though very sleep deprived. He did not sleep at all on the plane-and we had left our hotel Sun. at 8:30 am –loaded the plane at 1:30-sat on the tarmac until 3:00-and took off for our 8 hr flight to Moscow. He only slept for 30 minutes during the last hour of our flight. He was in our lap the whole time playing with the few toys we brought (which I am sure he is probably getting tired of seeing). But he just played and was happy and smiley the whole trip (except for the diaper changes in the airplane bathroom). His ears did fine-which was such an answer to prayer. I was so worried that they would hurt. He drank apple juice during take off and landing. He made a few noises-maybe his ears were popping.
Andrei-our aggressive driver/coordinator for Moscow picked us up at the airport and he came up to our room and we did a little paperwork for our visas. Luke evaded the bath once more (since we got here so late and he was SO sleep deprived) and we put him in his crib (which looks like a rolling laundry bin) and he cried for a little while and then fell asleep. We ordered room service (which I have never had before) and it was delicious! We had the first green food in almost a month-Caesar salads and a hamburger with French fries. Luke was breathing a little different-it was kind of like he was still a little shaken up from crying-so we decided to put him in bed with us. He slept for about 8 hrs, woke up for about an hour and then he and Chris fell back asleep until breakfast. We had the breakfast buffet –which was wonderful! And Luke ate more than we have ever seen him eat. He loved everything we gave him. It was so fun to watch him eat blueberry pancakes and strawberries and a ham and cheese omelet. He won the heart of a waitress there-who couldn’t keep her eyes off of him. She stayed at our table talking to him in Russian-although he was way more interested in his food. He sat in a high chair for the first=2 0time since we have had him-which was so nice for me. After breakfast-it was bath time-finally J Baths are getting a little better-he still cries like crazy-but a little less each time. He then got his fingernails and toenails cut for the first time with us. He didn’t like that either-and Chris was worried that I was cutting them too close (but I wasn’t). He doesn’t seem to be too fond of any grooming techniques-We’ll get there though.
He has been extremely “talkative” and very active and playful. Chris and I were talking about how different he is since we have had him even from when we visited him the last time in the orphanage. He is crawling everywhere-and pulling up and walking20while holding onto the couch or chair. He might take off anytime.. Here at our hotel-we have a lot of English TV channels-and one show had music playing and he started dancing to the music-it was precious. He also seems to really enjoy the plush white fluffy Marriott beds.
Chris just went to the store-hopefully. He left here-and isn’t back yet-he was going to just ask for directions at the front desk. We are almost out of diapers and wipes-imagine that.
Today is a holiday (of course) so we don’t have any plans. Tomorrow at 7am-the doctor will come to our hotel room to do the physical for Luke’s visa. Then Wed. we will all 3 go to the US Embassy for the visa interview and also to th e Ministry of Foreign Affairs to register him. Then Thursday-our plane leaves at 12:10pm and we are headed to Atlanta. Andrei told us that Luke will be a US citizen once he steps off that plane in America. I thought that was really cool-that is all it takes J
The internet access here is really expensive for some reason. We are going to try to get Andrei to get us some wi-fi cards-but if not-this may be our last email up-date (sorry about that). But we will be seeing y’all very soon! Thank you-as always-for your prayer and thoughts for our family. We couldn’t have made it without you all!

Laura Beck Kitchens passed away
03/08/09 08:25
Laura's
One Amazing Journey ended here on Earth on Friday,
March 6, 2009--just 4 days shy of 6 years from her
first cancer diagnosis. But her eternal journey
in Heaven has just begun. We are comforted by
the knowledge she is finally at peace without having
to fight disease and side effects every minute.
She was comfortable at the end and seemed to just go
to sleep peacefully.
Final arrangements are not completed yet. But the most likely schedule will be a visitation Monday in Starkville, MS, a service at First Baptist Church of Starkville on Tuesday morning, and a graveside service at Greenview Memorial Park in Florence, AL, late Tuesday afternoon. We plan to establish a scholarship fund at Mississippi State University in Laura's memory. We will send details once the fund is established for any who would like to honor Laura through that fund.
Shane, Mary Jim, and I truly, deeply appreciate all the support, encouragement, and prayers each of you has offered on our behalf these past 6 years. Without God's love and strength and the support of family and friends we would not have been able to make it. Laura was so blessed to have many people praying for her. Thank you for being a part of that outpouring of love for her.
Below is a copy of Shane's most recent message about Laura.
