Bonnie
I have an update on Denna Reynolds. It was not an 18 wheeler, but a rental van, like a u-haul truck that hit her. Dr Ray saw the driver last night at the ER with a head injury. Dr. Ray said today that he would probably go home today. Denna is on a ventilator, lost 4 units of blood, had surgery today on one leg and the other leg is pretty bad too. Her pelvic bone is cracked, her spleen has a tear in it and she has several stitches in her head. Her dad and oldest son is with her now and her mom is on her way from Florida now. Please continue to pray for Denna's healing and for her family.
Bonnie
Thank you and God bless!

********* Update on Evan Austin from his mother: ************
As most of you know, Evan has been in CICU since his surgery Monday evening. I am happy to report that we are finally out in a room. We had issues with fluid build-up around the lungs and Wed. morning they had to put in another chest tube under his left arm and this morning they had to put yet another one in under his right arm. We are still waiting for his heart rate to pick up its pace. They tell me this is a normal issue that slowly resolves itself after this kind of surgery. His oxygen levels are up to the mid to low 90's and his color is great. This evening they have him sitting up in a chair and he is finally smiling and making jokes again. We hope to go home Sunday, but it could be longer. Please continue to pray for him...his heart rate and his recovery. We miss our St. James family and can't wait to be with you in worship again!
God is in control!!!

********* UPDATE ************
I received another message from Evan's mom, Vanessa, today. Please join us
in praying for his heart rate to be what it needs to be!

We had a great day today! Evan had two of his chest tubes removed this morning and they have taken him off the oxygen supplement. So, we have one chest tube to go. Also, we are still in a holding pattern with his heart
rate. It is better, but still not where they want it to be. From what I understand, this could take a couple days or a couple weeks...so I have no idea how much longer we will be here. Please pray hard that his heart rate will pick up above the 80's so we will not have to get a permanent pacemaker and we can come home SOON.
We are so blessed to have such a wonderful church family! Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support!
We love ya'll!!!
************ UPDATE ************
Evan may have to go through another surgical procedure Friday morning. This is the latest news from his mom, Vanessa. Thank you for continuing to pray for this precious 8-year-old!

Subject: Evan update July 5
Yesterday Evan was taken off the temporary pacemaker so they could monitor what his heart rate would be without it. Over night, he had a large amount of drainage from his chest tube. They think this was caused because the top part of his heart and the bottom part are beating at different times and causing fluid back-up. So, this evening they have put him back on the
temporary pacemaker and they may take him to the OR in the morning to install a perm. one. Hopefully this will help us get home sooner...and they say that once the bruising of his heart (from surgery) heals, his rhythm will most likely return to normal and then they can deactivate the permanent pacemaker or remove it. I have no idea what time this may happen, or if it will for sure...but that is where we stand at the moment!
Keep praying for us!
Love to all,
Vanessa
I also ask your prayers for me. I am beginning the process of looking at names for getting a team together for Walk #333 in March of next year. I am certain that caring for my husband takes priority over an Emmaus Walk, but I am as certain that there was a God directed purpose in my selection as Lay Director for this walk.
Both Lee and I have faith in God's abiility to heal, restore and sustain, so, as of now, I am proceeding with plans for the walk trusting that God will direct our paths, and that He will strengthen and comfort us as we go through this trial together.
God's Blessings,

Hello All,
We are doing well. We wanted to ask for prayer for Southern Peru starting tomorrow (June 20). As you read in our blog, last Tuesday there was a strike/protest in Arequipa. We have been told that starting tomorrow there is going to be another one for all of Southern Peru for an indefinite period of time. They are protesting the rise in gas prices as well as milk and other basic products. This means that most of the public transportation will not run. Also, if you are in a vehicle (taxi or your own vehicle) and run into one of the demonstrations, then it is not uncommon to have rocks and other things thrown at the vehicle. Last Tuesday when this was going on, the boys did not have school because the teachers did not have transportation to get there. As far as we know, the boys will have school tomorrow but we are not counting on it. Pray that it will be a peaceful demonstration and that there will not be a whole lot of people involved. If many people avoid the whole thing then maybe it will not go on for longer than tomorrow. Know that we are planning to avoid the larger areas and don’t anticipate any problems. If too much is going on we will just stay around the house. Thank you for your prayers and we will keep you updated.
Serving together,
Michael Rains

Joan shared with me tonight at the Emmaus Cluster that Gloria Smith was in the hospital. She had knee replacement, and will be in Helen Keller 259 through Friday, and then on to Glenwood for rehab. We stopped in to see her after the Cluster meeting and had a good visit. However, much of her family is not where they can come to be with her right now, and she misses Eddie. Please pray for her recovery, and if you are where you can, drop by and visit. I know she would enjoy it and appreciate it!
God bless you all!
Vic
PS: she looks like she is in pain in the picture, but actually she was making a jester as she shared with Bonnie and me. She is on Demerol (can't take morphine) and was not complaining of pain.
Thanks! Vic

Thanks for all your prayers.
Danielle came over in Daddy's arms to greet us.
She is clinging close to Mom and Dad....
She is continuing to recover from surgery. She showed me her 'pic line' and pink bandaids... and the clown teddy bear that the clown at Children's Hospital gave her.
Carol, her Mom, said that she lost a lot of blood during surgery and was on oxygen after surgery for a while but she is doing better now. Still a lot of recovery to go...
I know that they have revised some daily treatments she takes. Also waiting on some test results where they went into her lungs during surgery to take samples....
Please continue to remember Danielle when you can think of her.
We are all glad to have her back at home next door.
Thank you for praying for our special little Danielle.
love, Sharon and Reece

Thanks!

This is Danielle Denton.
She is having a surgery Wednesday, June 6 to removed polyps from her sinuses. This is a condition that is consistent with her Cystic Fibrosis. She remains in Children's Hospital in B'ham for IV therapy among other important treatments.
Your prayers are requested to continue lifting her and her family up to the Lord. Pray for the Doctors and Nurses..... as they do their 'stuff'.
She is Elizabeth Danielle Denton for those that are sending cards and calling for her.
Thank you for your extra time given to this special little girl full of life. Reece and Sharon

Thanks for posting this request for Juliana, Lucas, Luiza and I, praise the Lord for our family of friends praying for us. We are in need of a vehicle, yet the Lord is giving us strength and many people praying. Please continue. If you can help in prayer or financial support, let us know. So gratefully, Andrew
PS: Here is the original request.
Andrew Jernigan went on his Walk to Emmaus when I was on the team (don't remember which one). They are now in Ghana where Julianna works as a medical missionary. The house they live in has bats in the attic, and after years of "bat activity", the ceiling has rotted and is in need of repair. During the rainy season, watery bat poop runs down the walls. As if this weren't enough, a tropical storm knocked down a power pole, and they are without electricity or water (pump requires electricity), and their truck has broke down. They are not complaining (I sure would be!) but continue to serve the Lord with joy. I want to share there needs with you and ask for prayer for this wonderful missionary couple. Vic Watford
