Bonnie Watford
As some of you already know, Bonnie has been having a great deal of back pain for the last several weeks. She has a bulging disc, a deteriorating disc, and osteoporosis. She is not a complainer, and seldom slows down when she is hurting. However, the only relief she gets is when she lays down on her side. She has had back surgery before, and was hoping to avoid it this go round. It isn't looking good. She cannot do house work, and that just makes her feel worse. I am nowhere near the home maker she is.

She has shown me more of the love God than almost anyone I have ever known. Please pray for her.

Thanks!

Richard Thrasher
Dear Prayer Warriors,
Please pray for my friend and former co-worker, Richard Thrasher. He will be having open heart surgery at UAB to repair 5 blocked arteries. Richard retired only 2 months ago and I'm sure this isn't the way he wanted to start his retirement! But thank the Lord, he did go to the doctor because it could be much worse. He and his family covet your prayers. Please feel free to add his name to any other prayer lists.

Jim Boggan
Some of you may know Austin Boggan. He’s a retired United Methodist minister and former missionary to Brazil. He preached at our recent homecoming service (in Killen.) Immediately after preaching he drove to Ohio to see his son who has cancer. I received the following e-mail via our church grapevine.

Thanks
.Nancy Lindsey

***************************

This message came in from Wanda Strickland (Ruth and Leo's niece from St.
James UMC). Please keep the Boggan family in your prayers.

***************************
I got a call from Austin a few minutes ago and he said, "I got word this evening that my boy's not going to make it."

I had talked to Austin yesterday, and while he had been in Ohio last week, they had done what he called a "trial run" of the radiation treatment, and thought Jim was going to be able to tolerate it, so they had scheduled him
to begin treatments on October 1. But while Austin was on his way back to Birmingham toward the end of the week, he got a call that they had put Jim back in the hospital, because they had found more cancer in his neck and a blood clot in his lung. There were also two more spots in his lungs that could either be more blood clots or more cancer. They were going to try and start radiation today rather than wait another week, but apparently they have determined it will not help. They said they could give him a treatment this Wednesday that would help his pain, but would "only prolong his time on earth" somewhat.

So Austin and Larry (his youngest son) are getting ready to go back to Ohio, to try and be there on Wednesday if Jim decides to go through with the treatment. Austin said he called me so that we would know how to pray for Jim and also for his family. Austin seems so much more feeble now than he did even a few months ago, and I know it is only with the Lord's help that he will get through the loss of his son, especially so soon after losing Mary (Austin's wife.) Austin turned 81 this past Thursday. Please pray for traveling mercy for him and Larry, and pray for Jim's wife and 10-year-old son.

God is in control, even when we don't understand.

In Christ,
Wanda

Natalie Moore
A former coworker at Social Security, Natalie Moore, is dying of liver cancer. I did not know her, but my friends did. She is always upbeat, even now, and makes everyone around her feel good. She is in deep pain, but still tries to attend Sunday school when she can. She lives in Macon GA, and gets blood transfusions in Birmingham. Please lift her up in prayer.

God's grace to you all!

Steve Barnett
Please pray for Steve Barnett. Steve is a minister and very close friend of Bob Murray. The two of them went all the way through seminary together and Steve stood with Bob at his ordination. Bob has just received a call from Steve saying he didn't think that he could make it, that everything is hopeless. Bob has gone to Tuscaloosa to see Steve. Please pray that he makes it to Tuscaloosa before Steve does something and that he can get immediate help for Steve.

Paige, Bailey and Parker
The evil one continues to work through Paige's husband, Derrick. He harrasses her, Bailey, and Parker by constant text messaging and/or calls using very mean and/or hurtful comments. He talks with or text messages to his girlfriend, Candi, the entire time Bailey and Parker are with him. Bailey begs him to stop and visit with her, but he only screams at Bailey. In fact, right now Derrick has selected Bailey as his target to abuse verbally, leaving Parker and Paige with less angry outbursts. Paige is weak some days; she is strong some days. She knows we are lifting her spiritually, which gives her some peace and comfort, and she is able to ignore some of the temper fits Derrick throws. Right now, Paige, Baily, and Parker needs a hedge of protection around them, deflecting the evil darts constantly hurled at them.

Connie asks that we pray for Derrick. The Holy Spirit has revealed to Connie that we all need to pray for Derrick's deliverance from Satan. Derrick has lost his way. He was raised by a father minister; he has been in church all his
life, and was active all during the time he was having affairs these last 2 years.

Paige says thank you and she is so grateful to have your support.

Glory!

Mother of Charlene Thomas
Please pray for the Mother of Charlene Thomas (sorry I don't know the name). Charlene is an Asst. Table Leader on Walk #53 and is one of the cartakers for her Mother. Last night Charlene found her Mother unresponsive, clammy, etc. She found that her blood sugar was low (she is diabetic) and her speech was slurred for a good part of the evening. This makes Charlene think she may have also suffered a mini-stroke. Please pray that the Mother will recover and that Charlene will be able to work the Walk which she desperately wants to do.

Thanks,

Katie Clement
Please pray tomorrow morning. Katie Clement will have her stint removed. Sometimes it can kink and go wrong. Pray that this procedure will be uneventful.
Thanks,
Anne Roy

UPDATE: 09/07/2007
Katie Clement's numbers went down today. That indicates the the stint removal was uneventful (the urethera can kink) and she continues to improve. She will be able to leave Birmingham and come home this weekend, but will have to be very careful since her immune system is comprimised. Thanks so much for all you prayers through this time.
