Today’s Program
PE Bill introduced our guest speaker, Don Money also known as Shannon’s dad. He played to Milwaukee Brewer’s in 1973; he was a valuable player who could play at several different positions. Because he was such a dynamic player of several field positions he earned a position in the Brewer line up for many years.
Don Money was one of the most popular players in Brewer’s history. He now coaches and finds a lot of players today seem to think they know everything and they don’t need teaching or guidance from coaches. This is Don’s third year back in Huntsville and most of the players he has now he had 3 years ago. He finds it interesting to see how player have progressed or regressed. He truly believes players today are of a different breed compared to the days when he was coming up in the big leagues. Players today feel as if they should automatically be advance to the next level of playing regarding the input and effort they put into their playing. There’s more to the game then just hitting explained Money, other aspects are bunting stealing bases and moving runners over.
In closing, Don explained it starts from Little League on up players need to be taught the proper way the game is played in order to be a successful player.
