Flag Salute & Prayer


Marty led our singing, Flag Salute and the 4-Way Test. Ron accompanied us on the piano. Cornell gave the blessing.

Guests

John Wisda visited us from the Elmer Club, Alan Woodruff visited from the Bridgeton Club. Marty Hoag brought 2 guests, Eileen Parrish and his grandson, Andrew. Cornell Brunson brought a guest Jim Brown. Carol Captis' guest was Alex Duckman. Our new member, Bob Swanson brought a guest, Pat Laws. Sandra and Mark Thompson were guests of the club.

Announcements

Sgt. at Arms, Bruce Middleton, announced our newest members, Hope Brolis and Bob Swanson.

Pres Bill thanked Carol Captis for organizing a wonderful Christmas Party.

Joe Delgado announced that the Rotary Night at the Phantoms with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters would be held on Friday, January 25th. Bus will depart from Loyle Lanes at 5:00pm. Tickets are $20.00. Sign up sheets are on the tables.

Henry Hansen sends a hello from Shaye Kotok. She is doing well. Henry thought is would be great to send Shaye e-mails or cards to wish her well.

Lou Tramontana spoke about the District Conference in Cape May, held on April 18,19,20. Please contact Sherry Keizman if you want reservations at Camelot Hotel. If you can’t stay for the weekend, the best day to go is Saturday. Registration forms and information is available at the table.

Secretary Gail Marino announced that they held a board meeting in 1/2/08 and approved the application of Bob Swanson to Rotary. They also approved a leave of absence for Abbey for 3 months. There are still tickets available for Jersey Boys event. 21 tickets sold to date. Calendars are available at the desk for upcoming events.

Pastor Dan Leslie announced his retirement after 40 years to his congregation in October 2007. With that retirement he will be leaving Rotary to travel and see his family around the country, share interim work, and plans to go overseas to do mission work. He appreciated Rotary for the great friendships, fellowship and most importantly service above self.

Mark Thompson, recipient of the Procaccino and Wm. Dudley scholarships, gave a brief update on his educational background and what he has and will be doing in the future. He will be graduating in May from Cornell University with a degree in Hotel Administration. He has studied abroad in China and plans to return there some day.

Ron Barisano spoke about the GSE Team. We are in need of 3 more Host Families for the 5 members of the Hungarian Exchange. The Foster and the Mike Loyle Families have agreed to host a member.

Last month Pat Procaccino sent Christmas stockings to the couple that adopted the 6 children. They sent a card of appreciation to the Rotary.

Program

Charlie Loyle performed the induction ceremony for Bob Swanson (again). He asked Carl Kirstein to come up as his sponsor (again). Welcome Back Bob!
