Announcements

Fundraising Chair, Ted Lane reminded members to sell tickets to the wine tasting scheduled for 12/7. There will be a chocolate fountain, hot and cold buffets, sparkling and dessert wines for the holidays and 60 wines to sample. Invite your friends. Ted said we need members to donate gifts for the Silent Auction that will be held during the wine tasting. Be creative! The Fosters are donating a "Gormet Meal at the Foster Caboose and Spa." Do you have a hobby or professional service you could donate??? How about putting a basket together with a gardening or beach theme??
There will be a fundraising meeting at Ted's garage Wed. night at 5:30.

Linda encouraged members to visit the new District Website www.rotary7640.org. Members should register and update their information directly on the website. You can also find where other Rotary Clubs meet so you can makeup when you miss a meeting.
The District Foundation is selling tickets for the 76ers game, Monday, Dec. 3rd. Signups will be on the tables next week. $52/ticket, ($26.00 Foundation credit) Signup or send Linda an email.

Gail gave the club a list of upcoming events. She also informed the membership that calendars listing events are on the 50-50 table as you enter the room. Please pick one up.
Signups for the the "Jersey Boys" NYC trip are being circulated. Please let Gail know if you are interested. Great Xmas gift!
The District Conference is being held April 18-20 in Cape May. Our club will be staying at the Camelot Inn. Sherry has offered a special rate and the use of a hospitality suite. Thank you, Sherry!

Bill J. announced the Dictionary Project dates: Next week's dictionary distribution will be at:

Ron McMahon leaves this weekend for Nigeria with other Rotarians to participate in the National Immunization Day. Ron thanked members for their donations which he will distribute to the children as they are immunized. Special thanks to Carol Parks for her donation of 15 cloth dolls. Ron will attend a West African Proejct Fair and will return with ideas for partnering with one of the African Rotary Clubs.

Jay announced his Year in Review Show will be presented at the November 20th Tuesday meeting. Please invite a guest to share Vineland Rotary in action.

Finemaster

Forgotten Finemaster, Bill Plick, only fined P. Bill $5 for his oversight. Bill J. was fined for asking for a "refund" for arriving early! Shirley received an award winning smile from the finemaster for $5. Rob Tola gladly gave $2 for his birthday. Dave H. contributed $2, Jay, MaryLou, Ed, Ken, Carl, Pat, Glenn, Ted, Hugh and a few others were fined for sitting at the same table.

Program

P. Bill introduced Mike Benson. Mike was very proud to present this year's recipient, Kathy Farinaccio with the Vocational Award plaque. Charles Loyle presented Kathy with a Paul Harris fellow.

Kathy Began her professional career in journalism at the Millville Daily, In 1983 she joined the cable television business with Cable Entertainment, Sammons, Suburban Cable and now known as Comcast. She handled Customer Service, operational, administrative and technical duties. She was promoted to Community Affairs Coordinator, then became the Community Affairs Manager. Kathy oversees virtually all aspects of government relations between her employer and the municipalities served by cable and has assisted in community relations outreach in 181 southern NJ communities using Comcast as their cable TV provider.
She saw that a TV was donated to Woodbine School District when she found out that they had cable connection but no TV. She was instrumental in establishing "Comcast Cares Day", assures that numerous volunteers are marshaled to perform community service and provides a work force for the Spirit and Truth Ministry soup kitchen. Kathy assembled volunteers and helped direct work efforts on behalf of the Tri-County Community Action Agency with a collection of used bikes, helped repair them and donated them to needy children. She was a prime mover in the South Jersey Field of Dreams project which is located in Absecon, helping construct a baseball field for handicapped children to play baseball. Kathy serves as a Lector at St. Isadore's Church, 7 yrs. as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater South Jersey Chorus, Secretary on the Board of the Vineland Regional Dance Company, Long standing member of the Board of Directors of the Vineland Chamber of Commerce. She serves on the Gloucester County Workforce Investment Board chairing the promotions committee, is a member of the March of Dimes, and a 10 yr. veteran volunteer for the Lukemia/Lumphoma Society. Kathy is an active member of the South Jersey Development Council chairing the Municipalities Committee. In 2005 Kathy was named the March of Dimes Volunyeer of the Year. She was the recipient of the Washington Twp. Rotary Club's Employee of the Year award, presented with the Women of Outstanding Achievement Award by the Girl Scouts of Camden County and recipient of the Dora Lawrence Award for Excellence in Journalism.
