"Deadline", Volume Demarko, chapter(head) 6 - " the Best in the world the head "

It is the sixth chapter(head) of the remarkable book of Volume Demarko "Deadline". For those who did not read the original, in brief I shall retell the beginning. And here before Mr. Tompkinsom very interesting problem(task) is put hard, but: for two years to develop six projects - competitors of known products. For this purpose Mr. Tompkins decides to select for each of six projects not one, and three commands(teams) of developers which will work above identical tasks, but on different metodologiyam.

When Mr. Tompkins reflected on work in Morovii, it(him) most of all excited, how much(as far as) this work will be interesting. It turns out, that now only average and younger heads at it(him) will be more, than employees in its(his) largest project! Besides, it(he) should distribute(allocate) people under projects. VVN wanted, that they have begun with six projects which will put Moroviyu in the first numbers(lines) of manufacturers of the software. Six projects - not too it is a lot of, but it(he) wished to take advantage of offer Laksy and to arrange in Morovii laboratory prodzhekt management, to find out, under what conditions people work most productively. If above each project will work on three commands(teams) competing among themselves then, it(he) should look for the personnel and heads for eighteen commands(teams) of developers.

Valdo has already requested of each manager of the company of the resume for Mr. Tompkinsa. And here at it(him) on a table lay two hundred the resume. Having entered into a cabinet(study), Mr. Tompkins vozzrilsya on them with hostility. They, in turn, all kind have expressed insult and condemnation. The most interesting, that it(he) and had no concept, with what to begin.

Mr. Tompkins and earlier noticed, that when it(he) tensely thought, but could not find a way out of the developed situation, it(he) would like to throw simply all and to borrow(occupy) in everything, if only not work. Earlier, the truth, at it(him) never was time for reading of the similar literature as it(he) has always been borrowed(occupied) by the projects. Now it(he) has firmly decided to spend some hours for studying of the theory which would help(assist) it(him) to solve a present problem(task), and already then to start analysis of the resume. So, Mr. Tompkins has thrown legs(foots) on a table and has started to read.

The book has appeared simply terrible. On idea, in the end of each chapter(head) Mr. Tompkins should postpone the book aside to write down any especially useful reasonings and rules. Nevertheless, the chapter(head) was replaced by the chapter(head), and it(he) not only has not made any mark, but even has started missing. Anything, it(he) hoped, maybe, the most interesting they have reserved for last chapters(heads). The tenth chapter(head). The same. It(he) has sighed and has opened the eleventh.

Tompkins has slammed the book and has risen from an armchair.

- Earlier all was somehow in another way. I never made of the decision alone. I always had a group of colleagues with which we could discuss any problems because have worked together not one year and absolutely trusted each other. - I mean, the person who would work together with you. The person with wide experience of work as the head of large projects in the American companies. His name is Binda.

- Yes, I heard this name when was at VVN. It seems, he/she is that person to whom all over again wished to charge that have then charged to me.

- And the guy had enough brains to refuse your offer?

Tompkins has taken the resume and has started to read aloud: B.Binda, year of a birth 1950, formation(education) University of Berkeley, California, summa cum laude, attacking a university basketball command(team), MBA in Harward. An operational experience: Xerox PARC, then Apple, then short contract work in Tandem, eight years of management of large projects in Hewlett-Packard, ten years in Computer Sciences. «го-th! Valdo! - I do not know, sir, whether will agree to work it(he) with us.

- I think, it is better to you to ask about it(this) Laksu, - Valdo have taken an empty cup from under coffee and have disappeared.

Mr. Tompkins has there and then gone to cabinet(study) Laksy. As room affairs in its(her) work practically was not, from all furniture there there was only a convenient sofa at a window. Now the mistress of a cabinet(study) sat on it(him), having drawn in legs(foots), and read any book in a soft cover.

- So, you have brought it(her) here and have told to it(her) about your projects?

- Yes, so I also have made. It(she) has listened, has very politely told: "many thanks". It(she) always would like to travel more so why to not begin with Morovii. Has asked me, whether good here a climate. I have told, that good. Then it(she) has risen and has left. Since that day it(she) lives in port at docks.

- Means, it(she) became morovijskoj the tramp.
