Badí Calendar Dashboard widget v0.9 (beta) Download...

The Badí Calendar is the calendar of the Bahá'í Faith. It is a solar calendar consisting of 19 months, each having 19 days. The remaining four days (five in leap years) are grouped between the 18th and 19th months and are observed as a festive time preceding a month of fasting in preparation for the new year, which begins on the vernal equinox.
Days in the Badí Calendar begin and end at sunset. The Badi Calendar widget calculates sunrise and sunset times from latitude and longtitude supplied by the user. If no latitude and longitude are supplied, sunrise and sunset are assumed to be 6:00 am and 6:00 pm.
The week begins on Saturday (Jalál [Glory]) and ends on Friday (Istiqlál [Independence])

Hover the cursor over a cell on the calendar to see details about the date.

Latitude and longitude can be entered in the form 55°55'55" (55 55 55 will work fine) or 55.55555. Entering negative latitude or longitude will set the direction selection to south or west for you.

Version 0.9 does not include localizations. Localizations for Spanish and French will be added in version 1.0. Updated calendar data for the years 173 through 172 B.E. will be added as soon as possible after it is published.

Anyone who wishes to collaborate on additional localizations is more than welcome to contact me! Anyone who wants to hack this widget for other environments is equally welcome to do so.

Known issues: Sometimes the East/West selector does not display the correct value even though the actual value that the widget is using is correct. Also, changing the setting from West to East and then back to West may result in the displayed Badí Calendar date being off by one day. The widget will self-correct the next time it updates but that can take up to 18 hours. A quicker way is to reset the widget by pressing Command - r. You get a cute visual effect that way, too.
