So another city has a new skatepark in the Seattle vicinity and upon hearing that it was done, I had to check it out. Upon my arrival at the Burien Skatepark, I saw a horde of skaters, bladers, BMXers, and scooterers. After making a mental note (once again) not to go to skateparks after school's out, I joined the masses in the struggle to get a clean line in the park.

A few days later, I got a morning mission going with Russ B. and Scott E. and the park was all ours. A Seask8 Park local was there when we arrived and some of the West Seattle crew showed up later. There were about 8 people total skating the park for 2-3 hours. We were all getting our lines in without running into anyone.

The main attraction was the snake/bowl area. The bowls are pretty mellow and range from 4-6 ft. tall. Everyone was getting down the hip and bowl transfers. There's also a mellow pyramid setup and ledges for the more technically inclined. I hate to say it, but one of the best features of the park is the ledge/curb that runs all around the park perimeter. You can skate the ledge but the best thing about it is that it keeps your board out of the soggy grass/mud. Sometimes, it's the smaller things that count.

For now, I think the Burien Park is pretty fun. The transitions in the bowls seem too mellow but the park's fun to roll around in.

Directions to the park:
From Seattle, take 99 South. From 99 South, follow the 509 South signs. Take the Burien/So. 146th St. exit and stay right at the fork. Take a right onto 146th St. Take a right onto 4th Ave. S.W. and the park's on the left.
