In October, I went down to San Francisco to attend one of my cousins' wedding. It was a nice occasion to see my family who live down in the Bay Area along with other family members who were in SF for the nuptials. Another benefit of being down in SF was that I'd get to skate the fairly new Milpitas Vans.

I caught a ride with my brother, Joe, down to Milpitas. We pulled up to the mall - I think it was called the Great Mall - whose logo looked alot like the Lucky Strikes cigarette pack. Once you get into the parking lot of this mall, you can see the Vans logo and eventually the small outdoor concrete street area. The rest of the park was inside a large warehouse-type outlet mall. We went ahead and paid the $14 for our 2-hour session but had an hour to kill until that session started. After an hour of aimless wandering in the mall, we came back to a crowd of kids waiting to get into the session.

Despite the number of people inside the park, it was big enough not to feel crowded. Then again, I never even rode the main street area, which is where most of the crowd was at. Other than the street area, the park consisted of a pretty wide 6 ft. mini with a slight bend/hip in the middle of its width, a bowl that had two bowled in areas a la Mickey Mouse ears, and a vert ramp (which isn't as wide as the vert in the other Vans parks). Not to be forgotten, there was also the Washboard and Clamshell bowls which were modeled after the ones from the old Winchester park.
