OVERCOMING ADVERSITY
OVERCOMING ADVERSITY
Who am I now?
Recent survivors often say they don't know who they are any more. As they grieve the loss of their identity, I suggest they look at it like this: We are the sum of our experience. We hold on to our first life's experience and now combine it with all this new experience. So we're still who we were, but now we enhance our experience with all that's happened since our lives were disrupted, which means we're an improved, broadened, deeper package. Personally, I'm so deep, I'm damn near invisible!
