OVERCOMING ADVERSITY
OVERCOMING ADVERSITY
Sure easily overdone, but what a concept!
A couple of weeks ago I had been entertaining the idea of contacting a friend I had spent considerable quality time with a few years ago. The following weekend I learned she had died at 43 years old. This same weekend my Grandmother suffered a Cardiac arrest. Fortunately, I had visited her 6 months earlier in Dallas to celebrate her 90th birthday. Thankfully, she survived to continue feeding the neighborhood birds and directing the families affairs.
A rough weekend, FOR THOSE OF US THAT SURVIVED ARE LEFT THINKING,
"WHAT IFS"
Also, a few years ago I had been meaning to call another friend who had been my Mentor in Corrections, and a personal friend. Upon returning from a canoe trip in Florida, I learned he had died while shoveling snow in his driveway at 52 years old.
Tomorrow is uncertain, so make your move now!
Since my lifestyle was shredded, I've learned to focus on what I have left rather than all I've lost. I have fantastic memories of those I've lost as I focus on how they lived rather than how they died.
A simple coping formula.
