OVERCOMING ADVERSITY
OVERCOMING ADVERSITY
Whenever feasible, I take the stairs. The reason? A few years ago, when I was confined to a wheelchair, I had few options in reaching other floors. I had to wait for the elevators. Now, I rarely wait since I don't have to, and it's great exercise. Sure, it's a little awkward climbing one step at a time. Stairs can be an intense exercise in a short period of time. Thanks to my cardio work, which includes stairs, I've been able to maintain a healthy heart. Following a blood pressure check, my doctor told me, "You have the heart of a runner." I said, "But Doc, I can't run." His response was, "You're doing something right."
Sure I'm a bit obsessive about exercise, but that's alright. What's your excuse?
