Ohh, I get to be the first to sign the guestbook! how cool! nice pictures Dennis!
Welcome to the Vroomski Web Page. My hobbies are Dxing medium, long-wave and Tropical shortwave bands. If you too are an enthusiast, you already know that Dxing stands for "distant listening" of faraway radio stations. For instance, the AM stations I've heard herald from Europe to Southeast Asia. Through this site I hope to share and exchange knowledge about a hobby I've enjoyed throughout my life. Here you'll find pictures, as well as audio clips, some of which I may ask you to help me ID.

The photo above shows some of the receivers and antennas I use.
Top shelf: Kiwa loop
Second shelf: Drake R8B, DX440
Third shelf: JRC NRD - 545 DSP reciever, Palstar MW550P Mdium Wave & LF Turner/Preamp

Medium Wave DxingLiving in the Pacific Northwest enables me to hear many faraway AM broadcast stations with an outdoor antenna and sensitive radio. The equpiment I use right now (it's subject to change) includes a JRC 545 and Drake R8B, EAC R390A and R30CC. I use a variety of antennas: 75' ewe, kiwa loop, Space Magnet, H-800, high-performance active whip, and a 120' wire that runs along my fence. Standby receivers include a Hammarlund HQ180, Hammarlund RB6-2, National NC183 and an Stewart Warner R390A. |
