CSS NOTES
Re: browsers and screen resolution - I am abandoning Netscape 4.75, I believe as it does nothing in CSS and apparently not many use it.. Have learned that most apparently use a screen resolution of 800 x 600. I would think, with the advent of larger 17", 19", and more - that higher resolutions will become more common. I suppose one solution is to state in the beginning "page is best viewed using …".
I have never cared for frames and do think that it's important to offer a "non-frames" page. I see that CSS offers column formatting, which I will explore. I am addicted to tables, I must say, and probably will have a hard time getting away from them for placement of objects. The positioning elements in CSS are powerful, however, and have application in DHTML combining with JavaScript.
More to review:
Re: "Cascade" and inheritance, it looks like a bit of experimentation is necessary with the "weighting" factor. I would like to try more with ID, and the "!important" designation. Also, white space needs more exploration.
Templates
It is well worth experimenting and setting up various style sheets. With modifications, one can build a personal library of frequently used styles. What a time saver! Change the background and voila! - a new page.
I really look forward to an advanced CSS2 class and also DHTML. There are so many resources to study, it shouldn't be hard to keep busy even before any other classes. The class page reference is book marked and makes a nice reference.
All of us learned a great deal in this class and it was wonderfully challenging. We are now hooked and eager to continue - thanks Glo, for a great job!
