Mustered Oct. 16, 1863. Transferred to company M, Eight Cavalry, July 20, 1865. Mustered out at Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 22, 1865.

Edward E. Mertel, was enlisted on the 11 day of February 1862 at St. Charles, MO., as a Corporal in Company A, 1st Infantry MO. State Militia for the duration of the war unless sooner discharged. Companies A and K consolidated. Mustered out May 9, 1893 at St. Louis, MO. (From the Adjutant-General's Office, State of Missouri, City of Jefferson, October 19, 1922.

Robert Robertson

Robert was a Sgt. Co I 29th Iowa Volunteer Infantry and served Aug. 13, 1862 to Aug. 10, 1865. He was wounded in action April 30, 1864, at Jenkins Ferry and never fully recovered. He was discharged from New Orleans, La., at age 35.

Patrick Collins, Grass Lake, MI., age 20. Corporal, 17th Michigan Infantry, Co. F

The Seventeenth Infantry, the celebrated "Sonewall Regiment of the Union", rendezvoused and mustered in at Detroit on May 29, 1862, when after a short period of training and equipping was sent by rail to Washington, D.C., there assigned to the 1st. Brigade, 1st. Division of the 9th. Corp. From there they were dispatched into the Maryland Campaign, under the overall command of General G. McClellan.
