Criteria: Awarded for participation in "any military campaign of the United States

for which no other service medal is authorized" including the Cuban Missile Crisis between October 1962 and June 1963.

(Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara extended all Navy & Marine personnel, that were due to be discharged,  for four months, because of this crisis.)

I was extended for this period of four months.
