O Major League Rules, 2003-2004 Season These rules shall govern the conduct of the league throughout the 2003-2004 season. Any matter not specifically covered by these rules are governed by the 2003-2004 ABC Rules booklet. Any matters, that still can't be resolved, will be decided by a meeting of the League Officers. 1. League Officers 1.1 President: Rob Cianciosi 1.2 Vice-President: Sigurd Gulbrandsen 1.3 Secretary/Treasurer: Bill Ingram, Jr. 1.4 Each team captain is counted as a league officer. 2. Sanctions 2.1 The league shall be sanctioned by the ABC. 2.2 ABC sanction fees are due during the first night of bowling ($16 or $8 transfer fee [i.e., dual- membership fee]). Sanction cards will be sent to your home. 3. League Data 3.1 The league shall last 35 weeks, beginning on August 26, 2003, and end on April 20, 2004. We will be bowling on the weeks before Christmas (12/23/03) and New Year's Day (12/30/03). 3.2 A sweeper (i.e., Pot Bowling) will be held on April 27, 2004. Participation is optional. League prizes will be distributed before the sweeper. 3.3 League practice will start each week at 8:15 pm. Bowling will start at 8:25 pm. 3.4 During league practice, bowlers may only throw one practice ball at a time and then, if anyone else is waiting, must let another bowler throw. 3.5 Weekly league fees are $14.00 per bowler per night. $9.50 goes for lineage, $0.50 goes to the secretary, and $4.00 goes towards the prize fund. 3.6 The fees for the final two weeks of bowling must be paid by the 5th week of bowling. 3.7 This will be a handicap league. Handicap will be 90% of 220. 3.8 Each league team will consist of four ABC-sanctioned bowlers. 3.9 Position nights will be held on the 10th, 20th, 30th, and 35th nights of bowling. 4. Scores 4.1 Handicap for league members and substitutes will be calculated after they establish an average on their first night of bowling. 4.2 Tardy bowlers will not be able to join a game if the game has entered the fourth frame. 4.3 A legal line up consists of two team members and zero, one, or two substitutes and/or vacancies (described below). If a legal line up is not present by the beginning of the fourth frame of any game, the team must forfeit that game. If a team forfeits a game, they are quite likely to lose that series as well. 4.4 League members or new substitutes must establish an average in the first night they bowl (i.e., they must bowl all 3 games) or the scores will not count. 4.5 No substitutes will be allowed in the last 2 weeks of bowling or in position nights. Substitutes cannot bowl in a vacant spot on a team roster. 4.6 The vacancy score shall be 150 pins plus handicap. 4.7 Absent bowlers will use their average, plus handicap. If a second absentee score is used on the same team, 10 pins per game must be deducted from the team total. If a team has one vacancy, having one additional absent bowler will not trigger the 10-pin penalty. 4.8 If a team must bowl against a vacant team, they must bowl against their own average minus 40 pins per game. When a team bowls in a forfeit situation, they win the game no matter what they bowl. 4.9 If a team member is absent for two weeks in a row and has not contacted his team or a league officer about the absence, he is presumed to have quit the league and should be replaced by the team. 4.10 When a league member informs the league that he has quit, the team must use the vacancy score until the roster spot is filled. If the league member is presumed to have quit (see previous rule), that member's average is used for any week(s) for which he has pre-paid. After that, a vacancy score must be used. 4.11 If a team can not bowl at the scheduled time, the team captain must notify a league officer (President, Vice President, or Secretary) at least 24 hours in advance. In emergency situations, notification must be made as soon as practical. Any members of a team that is to post bowl must not be in the bowling alley on the scheduled night of bowling. 4.12 Pre-bowled games may not be bowled more than a week before the scheduled night. Post- bowled games must be bowled within one week after the scheduled night. The league officers may grant an extension for emergency situations. In any case, all games must be made up before the next position night or they will be declared forfeit. 5. Prizes 5.1 An individual must bowl at least 2/3 of the scheduled games (70 games) of bowling in order to be eligible for individual prizes. 5.2 The Vice President will be the chairman of the prize committee. The proposed prize list must be submitted to the league officers by the 5th night of bowling. 5.3 An individual or team shall not be eligible for prize money or awards in more than one category (high game, high average, etc.). 5.4 If there is a tie for first place, or any place, total pins (with handicap) will break the tie. If a tie between first and second place still exists after the tiebreaker, a one-game roll off (with handicap) will be held.
