Bill Ingram and The Tape Tree

I have been a fan of the Canadian musical group Klaatu since 1976. In 1996, I stumbled across a mailing list where fans of the group got together to discuss the group. Soon, someone came up with the idea of a Tape Tree.

A Tape Tree is simply a list of fans who are willing to share their tastes in music with other fans on the list. This takes the form of making a cassette tape once a month with songs on it that you think fellow fans on the list might enjoy. Each month you are assigned a different person to mail your tape to.

This is for amusement only and many members record over the tape after listening to the tape a few times. As most members of the list can attest, hearing one or two new tracks from an artist often causes the listener to rush out and buy the whole CD.

This Tape Tree mostly involves pop artists from the late 70s or early 80s, although any period of music is honored.

We sometimes have openings on the tree. Send me email if you are seriously interested (some members have been involved for five years in a row).

Here is a list of every song I've put on each tape I've made since 1996. Below are the CD covers for some recent CDs. Here are the recent assignments (without addresses).
