Exiled from QRP-ARCI ®
I
was a relatively long-time member and supporter of I'm sorry, but I must break my self-imposed silence on QRP-F. QRP-ARCI, while welcoming members in all countries, thereby being "International," was still founded in the good old USA. Therefore I find the use of the British flag for "English" inappropriate. I realize this opinion does not win the approval of the "politically correct" crowd, but when I see the G-QRP Club using the US Flag on their web page, then they might have an argument. (Since there are at least as many US members of G-QRP as there are British members of QRP-ARCI.) I am reminded that I also included the following "inflammatory" picture with that post...
This was the beginning of the end. 1. First G4GXL banned me(my IP address) from even being able to read the QRP-F forum. 2. He REMOVED my registration so I could not log in on the web page. 3. When I attempted to register with another(club) call he then banned me from even reading the QRP-ARCI® web page, by banning my IP address again. I confirmed this by checking from another computer and ISP. Note he never even had the guts to contact me and say he was doing this. I sent a messsage to all the QRP-ARCI® Officers and BoD members advising them of this unwarranted personal vendetta. I advised the Secretary/Treasurer that since I was being denied access to QRP-ARCI®, and I was paid up until Spring 2007, I expected a refund. NOTE: I requested a refund AFTER being "banned" from QRP-ARCI® ! I finally received a response from G0BPS, the President of QRP-ARCI®. John, Please note that at all times Steve G4GXL the webmaster ofthe club has had the full support of the Board of Directors and both myself and the Vice President in the actions he has taken. I have instructed the club treasurer to send a full refund of your subscription as requested. You should receive this in the next few days. Have a nice day! -- Dick Pascoe G0BPS President: QRP-ARCI UNBELIEVABLE! Obviously, a defense of the US Flag is punishable by being kicked out of QRP-ARCI®!! NOTE: The President refers to this as a "Subscription." I considered it "membership dues." Therefore I emailed the Secretary Treasurer and requested my membership data be purged, since I had been "banned" as a member already. Note: I checked from my Grandson's computer, and found that after all this, the American Flag has been added to the icons....as the very last flag. The British Flag still signifies "English." But that is not the point. The point is the sneaky and vindictive treatment by G4GXL (and G0BPS). UPDATE (August 7, 2006) I
sent the following to the Officers and banning me from QRP-ARCI. It would appear that they
are intent on removing every trace I ever existed ;-) from
the "Personal Web Page" links. (Not surprising). back when he was setting up the new Web Page. One was on my MP+, the other on my R2T2 (40M
rig using KK7B modules). is allowed to pursue his personal vendetta, but as I was told, the Officers and BoD support him. |
November 16, 2006 Well, Just when you think they can't get worse. I got a look at the Fall QRP Quarterly, and I see the editor, to whom I sent a copy of my email above, makes this comment: "Thanks to our Webmaster, Steve, G4GXL, I now have the email address "editor@qrparci.org." Sadly, some folks think that this address is for spewing their own personal agenda and for trying to suck the QRP Quarterly into their own petty fights with each other. Let me assure everyone that my "delete" key works quite well.!" This comment is no doubt due to the fact that I sent a message to ALL officers of QRP-ARCI, complaining about the unilateral actions of G4GXL, and the complete violation of their own by-laws. Shows what an"open mind" the QRP-ARCI leadership has. Speaking of by-laws, the Article II I quoted above was DELETED, and a new Part d added: “(d). Nothing hereing contained shall preclude the Board of Directors from expelling a member or not accepting an application for membership upon good cause shown and after notice and an opportunity to be heard. For such a motion to pass regarding membership status, it must pass with 2/3 of the BOD members voting for the membership issue to pass.” Now note, even though this was added after the Webmaster unilaterally denied me the privileges of membership, even if it had been in effect, they did not follow it, as there was NEVER any communication to me, nor opportunity to be heard given. Also, I believe according to Hank, K8DD, it was a majority, not a 2/3 vote approving G4GXL's vendetta. Another example of QRP-ARCI not even having the decency and honor to follow their own by-laws, even when they try to change them to retroactively legalize their actions. FLASH !!!! (February 22, 2007) QRP-ARCI now setting rules for QRP! From an email sent to major QRP lists by QRP-ARCI President and VP: “After careful consideration based upon membership feedback, frequencies used by both RTTY and QRP operators, and recent changes and pending changes to band plans, it has been agreed by the BOD of QRP-ARCI that with immediate effect the center of activity for 40m QRP CW operation in North America shall be 7030 kHz.” Isn't it nice to have someone besides the ARRL and the FCC making rules for us? May 20, 2007 Update G0BPS “ELECTED” ANOTHER TERM !!! In his editorial in the Spring 2007 QRP Quarterly he states his desire to make QRP ARCI more “International” by having more of the leadership non-American. The following will be the new logo for QRP ARCI.

August 1, 2007
Just noticed that after a year, suddenly
my call and old member number, which
I had requested purged after G4GXL's
“Denial of Services,” has suddenly
reappeared in the “Member Lookup.” This
was NOT at my request and I still am a
NON-member!
April 2008
Sadly, with a new year, the situation with QRP-ARCI has only gotten worse. Steve, G4GXL, the “Webmaster” has now been “elected” to the Board of Directors.
Also, it would appear that any mention of non-QRP-ARCI activities are forbiden on the web page and on QRP-F. I had wanted to make sure a notice got out about the upcoming QRPTTF (QRP to the Field) contest. Of course, I am unable to post to QRP-F, so I asked one of the Board Members who hasn't completely sold his soul to the Queen to post it. Even then, it took a week before he could get it on.
I also note that the last time Ken, N2CQ's “Contest calendar” was allowed on QRP-F was back in October 2007.
Finally, the “Ozarkcon” QRP forum takes place this weekend. I note there is NO mention of it either on the QRP-ARCI web page or on QRP-F.
It would appear the new policy is to permit NO publicity for any QRP event that is not directly sponsored by QRP-ARCI.
Maybe some members could bring this up at FDIM in May, since it would appear the King, G0BPS will again be there.
