Had to set up antenna on Friday, to catch High tide, as the piling I attached the DK9SQ mast to would be difficult to reach at Low tide. Just lashed the mast to the piling.
Note very basic method of mounting Solar Panel. Nevertheless, it worked quite well.
The operating Position. Old 486/33 laptop didn't draw too much from the batteries. Ran Trlog. Only problem was seeing the screen in the daytime.
Finally, the tireless(?) operator.
RESULTS: Had to give it up about 8AM on Sunday. Total 360 QSOs, all CW, Class 1A-Battery/alternative power.
(One transmitter....1 tired operator!)
You will
NOT find the results in QST. The ARRL with their usual arrogance "interpreted" their own rules.Incorrect! "NON-CLUB groups with 3 or more licensed amateurs." "CLUB" does NOT specify number of operators. Please read your own rules!
> 4.4. (Class B - Battery) One or two person portable:
Non-club stationsNOTE: "Non-CLUB stations."
W2DWC WAS a Club Station.
Please correct to Class 1A-Battery, or delete entirely.
The ARRL's Response?

MORE ARRL SCREW-UP!! October 28, 2002, checked the results as published. Sent the following to Mr. Henderson
You know, it's bad enough you messed around with my entry for W2DWC,
insisting that it was 1B not 1A, but now I look at the "Results" and I
see a "W2WDC" listed in SNJ, with the identical number of QSOs (360)and score (3,800)
that I had..and it is listed under Class 1A-Battery, but with 3
operators. What is more strange is that there IS NO such call issued as
W2WDC!
Unbelievable!
MORE NEWS! Following response from ARRL.
John:
When entering the call W2DWC a typographical error was made and the entry was entered as W2WDC. I apologize for the error. A correction will be printed in an upcoming QST and it will be correctly shown on the online database when it is opened later this week.

It would appear that letters to the Atlantic Division Director and the Chief Editor at ARRL had some effect on Mr. Henderson. I am still anxiously awaiting a response as to the identity of the other two operators. Funny how on this they "accidentally" made a typo. Anyway, makes W2DWC Nationally #13 in Class 1A-Battery. First in New Jersey.
