Lt. Col. Daniel Shipman Troy
Lt. Col. Daniel Shipman Troy was certainly a fighter and a soldier. Wounded on a number of occasions, he was ultimatley shot through the chest late in the war at Hatchers Run, Petersburg. He wasn't even leading his own unit, the 60th, but was standing in (as there were so few officers left) as the Col. of the 59th. After his capture, release, and miraculous recovery he went on to be a successful businessman. The story of his wounding and capture has been officially documented in the "OR".
