Wade Hampton Allen Wade Allen was one of the earliest citizens of Montgomery and his daughter, Eliza Brown Allen, married Gov. Watts on her 17th birthday. An industrious businessman, he ran the postal route from Montgomery to Mobile, and was involved in developing real estate in Montgomery and later in Texas. One of his sons from his 2nd marriage was William Wirt Allen, a general in the Confederate States Army.
